Dozens To Be Evacuated For Escondido Bomb House Burn
San Diego.com ^ | Dec. 8. 2010 | City News Service

Barring any legal wrangling, widespread evacuations will begin this evening around a North County rental house that authorities plan to burn to ground Thursday morning to dispose of a large illegal stockpile of highly volatile bomb-making chemicals found inside it three weeks ago.

At noon today, attorney Michael Berg, lawyer for renter George Djura Jakubec, is scheduled to ask a federal judge to halt the burning because there could be documents and other evidence in the house that could aid in his client's defense.

Exactly how anyone would go about gathering the potential evidence from the home that bomb experts say is too dangerous to enter is unclear, Berg told The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Assuming the judge turns down Berg's request, residents of about six dozen addresses around the cordoned-off home in the 1900 block of Via Scott in unincorporated Escondido will vacate the neighborhood, starting at 7 p.m.

and hope that the fire will burn the chemicals, rather than acting as a catalyst for an explosion.

Ever worked with explosives?

...didn't think so.

And yes, I did read the story and they're absolutely nuts!

"If I were to speculate based on his age, he may have learned his bomb making craft in the Kosovo conflict when the Serbs were fighting the KLA."

He's no more a Serbian than a muzzie who was born in Dearborn, MI is an American. He's an ethnic Slovakian, who happened to be born in Serbia. It's unlikely he's fought for the Serbs after the break-up of Yugoslavia, considering he was (according to the story) a private pilot in the US in 1980 and a contractor in the early 90s, although it's probably not impossible. But, most ethnic Slovaks stayed out of the war, as most lived well-north of hostilities, in towns that border Hungary.

"Clearly you fancy yourself as knowing more about the story than the City News Service."

Yes, I'm pretty confident I understand a WHOLE LOT more about the ethnic makeup of Serbia, than some idiot reporter from the City News Service. Sure, I'm 0 for 2. If that's what you think, don't let me get in the way of your own genius.

You should have quit while you (thought you) were ahead. With that line you've blown any credibility you thought you had on the subject...seriously.

Right. Just like this guy's really an American...

He was born here, right. So, that means he's an "American". Seriously, get you head out of the hole.

Not impossible, but now looking extremely unlikely as his estranged wife is now talking more...

“According to Jakubek’s wife, it has only been since his firing from VIA Telecom that he became obsessed with chemicals.”

The hoard of hazardous compounds -- including substances favored by suicide bombers -- was "the largest quantity of these types of homemade explosives (ever found) at one place in the United States,'' Deputy District Attorney Terri Perez said at Jakubec's Nov. 22 arraignment in state court.

Sooo, maybe one of those huge Israeli bulldozers instead? Igniting unknows may be a BIG recipe for disaster. I'm so glad we have smart folks on this/s

I was going to mention the Philly fire, but you got here first. The last thing I read about the houses was that there was some hostility in the neighborhood as the bombed out homeowners got ‘beautiful new houses’ and the neighbors were a little jealous. Well, after reading the article you cited, it looks like the houses weren’t so great after all. So now they’re all boarded up? Wow.

I spent 10 yrs in Philly and lived near where Ramona Africa bought another house with her city money. I used to see her in the grocery store. I bet it doesn’t faze her in the least that a whole neighborhood was destroyed in great part because of her actions.

I think the Federal Judge should agree with the lawyers. And then delegate them to go through the house for any documents they want.

Nobody else should be forced to go through it.

At noon today, attorney Michael Berg, lawyer for renter George Djura Jakubec, is scheduled to ask a federal judge to halt the burning because there could be documents and other evidence in the house that could aid in his client's defense.

What an utterly ridiculous cover story. They can't foam the inside of the house? Water it down? Strip it out? But they can walk around inside and catagorize everything? And now they intend to set it on fire and fill the neighborhood with... God knows what?

Yeah, they want to burn it - but what exactly is the IT they want to burn? Not bomb chemicals, that's for sure. What did this guy invent that's too big to be taken out? What papers does he have that are too dangerous to move into custody? There's a story here, and it has zero to do with burning chemicals.

The government is really enamored with rock stupid cover stories. They make them this way because there's no way to even start to discuss the irraionality of the story, because it's so extreme. With a reasonable cover story, illiogic can be exposed and contrasted with reason. But with burning a house full of unnamed "bomb chemicals" that the stupid masses can't even be told about for their own safety, while clouds of poison billow out over the neighborhood, what can be said against such idiocy.

And then, of course, is the deployment of the shills, who are told to make everyone argue from first principles, like, "how do you know the temperature that the fire will burn?" How do you know any gas will be released from a burning house?" Have you ever personally measured the amount of ashes that come off of a burning house?"

What insulting rot.

Leeloo, a "supreme being", the fifth element: "Big Badda Boom!"

Excellent quote. I know I shouldn't have laughed, very sad story. BWWWAHAHAHA.

Reminds me of the decision by police to dropped a four-pound bomb made of C4 plastic explosive and Tovex, onto the roof of MOVE headquarters in Philadelphia. The stupidity of some police departments is hard to underestimate.

Nobody seems to care about the home owner. This is a rental from the reports I have read. I say give him a plea deal, let him move the stuff out of the house and to a safe container and then his lawyer can look in the house for paper he wants. Or least see if the owner can work a deal with a movie or reality show.
