Chapel Hill, N.C. Elizabeth Edwards' cancer has spread, and her health has deteriorated, multiple sources told WRAL News Monday.
Edwards, 61, the wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, was briefly hospitalized recently, but she is now at home, and her family and friends are lending their support.
She was first diagnosed with cancer in the final weeks of the 2004 presidential campaign, when her husband, who was at the time a U.S. senator from North Carolina, was the Democratic nominee for vice president. The couple didn't disclose her illness until after the election

Are they still married, or is he off with the new family now?
This could be what the Feds are waiting on before they drop a net over Edwards. Once Elizabeth is gone, then that issue won’t matter.
exactly right
and I am so glad that POS didn’t win. He didn’t deserve her support then and he doesn’t now
God Bless her. She might not be blameless but she doesn’t deserve this pain
I pray she recovers.
No further treatment. Dang. Don’t they have school age kids? (I’m not recalling at the moment) Hopefully she’ll make it through the holidays.
I hope the Lord takes her easily. God bless her and her family.
An insult to demons.
I will wish no harm on the bastard husband he will burn in hell for what he has done to her..With his narcissistic attitude he will get no place..As for his scum girlfriend she is not worth anything..I feel sorry for that baby with a whore for a mother and a womanizer for a father...
If I don’t have anything good to say...
But I WILL say that I’m sorry she’s suffering.
"Elizabeth has been advised by her doctors that further treatment of her cancer would be unproductive. She is resting at home with family and friends," the Edwards family says in a statement to PEOPLE.
On Monday, Edwards, 61, posted a Facebook message to her friends.
"I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope," she writes. "These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined. The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that."
Edwards, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2004, was briefly hospitalized last week after not feeling well over Thanksgiving. Doctors said her cancer had metastasized to the liver.

Her scumbag husband will rot in hell if not in a jail cell where he belongs.
Perhaps the Feds are indeed waiting on her passing to indite him and lock him up.
What a fine judge of character John F'ing Kerry is picking this rodent as his VP candidate. It figures.
I agree.
I know that the Fort Mill / Rock Hill South Carolina area I lived in held her in high regard. Not so much him.
I pray she finds God instead.
Somebody call Dave Matthews....
I DO NOT agree with your comment related to EE. I pray that she be at peace with her life, have no fears, and that God gives her a pain free transition.
Remember when she could say anything she wanted, but you didn't dare respond because she was simply going to die any day now of cancer?
I am attempting to come up with some sympathy, but as much as that card had already been played, it seems played out.
May her final days be as free of pain as possible.
Her children are ages 12 & 10, much too young to lose their mother. :( Very sad.
