PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Federal agents in a sting operation arrested a Somali-born teenager just as he tried blowing up a van he believed was loaded with explosives at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, authorities said.

The bomb was an elaborate fake supplied by the agents and the public was never in danger, authorities said.

Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. Friday just after he dialed a cell phone that he thought would set off the blast but instead brought federal agents and police swooping down on him.

Yelling "Allahu Akbar!" — Arabic for "God is great!" — Mohamud tried to kick agents and police after he was taken into custody, according to prosecutors.

I’m not sure about this guy but we brought in a lot of Muslims from Somalia. The liberals brought them in. The ‘girls’ from Maine decided that Portland Maine was the perfect place to import them. Fortunately at least one of the ‘girls’ will be leaving the Senate soon.

We have had Islamic kids practicing in Portland Maine. We have people on the ground who were there and watched the willfull neglect of the Portland Maine Police Department who refused to investigate when it happened.

At some point, though I doubt we have any leaders in this country with the courage to do this, we will need face the ugly truth: Us or them. We cannot co-exist with these people, “moderate” or otherwise.

Their RELIGION is a danger to our continued existence.

We cannot afford to be culturally tolerant of these people. The cost to Americans in surrendered liberty, blood and treasure, is more than the value of the Muslims’ continued presence among us.

We must seriously consider whether it is in the best interest of America, for our own survival, to exile all Muslims from the U.S. They are 99 percent liability and 1 percent asset.

It is time to show this “huddled mass” the door.

Definitely. These countries around the world have screwed themselves up. What do we do? Bring them over here. Yeah, that’s the answer. Infect civilization with the animals of the world.

You are right on the money.

Even if this guy had malice in his heart, he was still set up by DHS.

There was no crime because the government supplied the phony bombs.

This was a thought crime. Not terrorism.

Flame away. We’ll hear what Rush says on Monday morn.

I know. But still, exceptions do not make the rule, devout followers of Islam do NOT engage in barhopping.

oh get real!

He was actively seeking to become a mass-murdering jihadist.

He believed he was blowing up countless innocent civilians as he pressed that cell phone button.

This is not mere “thought crime” — he thought he had found the means to slaughter infidels and he did his d———st to kill.

One can despise Obozo and still be glad that this jihadist was de-railed into a harmless plot instead of actual slaughter. Most of the 9/11 terrorists were no more competent and no more determined and had no more criminal ‘intent’ than this guy, but they happened to be hooked up with real terrorists instead of a fake plot.

Begs the question, how much money must be offered, in order to create a "domestic" terrorist? One thousand, five thousand, one hundred thousand, one million, or more?

I would say the threshold is dependent upon the subject targeted.

But, big but, none of us would do it for any amount of money. I'm talking about die hard red blooded Americans. No amount of money offered would cause us to participate in terrorism. We would turn in the folks doing the offering in a heart beat. Or, depending upon one's preference, kill them.

The Somali native, if true, must pay for his "thought crime." Since he intended to murder for some unknown amount of bounty.

At the same time, I would prefer LE focused on following, apprehending, and preventing real terrorists. Rather than setting up some kid, who will do it for a bundle of loot.

You can give these freeloading maggots U.S. citizenship documents all day long. THEY WILL NEVER BE AMERICANS. They will always be parasites feeding off of the American taxpayers.

Americans need to take our country back from the out of control politicians.

I'm betting this kid was influenced by Malvo and Mohammed aka the DC snipers who were in Oregon for quite a while. I'm sure the Portland papers make a constant reference to them...

I'll bet there is all kinds of stuff on this Muzzie's computer pointing to them.

If his intention was to set off a van full of explosives, and sought help in effecting that plan, and proceeded with the plan, how was he ‘set up’ by the DHS? They provided materials that would not explode, but he still attempted mass murder. I’m not a lawyer, but I think it would be entrapment only if the FBI/DHS went to him and talked him into attempting the mass murder.

exactly — if the facts are as reported the guy was seeking out training and opportunities and means to be a mass-murdering jihadi before security officials ever contacted him.

That is very different from ‘entrapment’ where LEOs create a crime scenario and a scumbag falls into temptation. No one needed to ‘tempt’ this scumbag onto the path he was already following by choice.

This guy (according to the report) was actively seeking his path to ‘martyrdom’ and mass murder, and most fortunately was diverted onto a false path. He believed he had a real bomb and a real scenario for mass murder.

All crimes have one essential element, criminal intent. Thought. You have to know you are doing something wrong or negligent or reckless or against the will of society in some way.......or your behavior, no matter what it is, is not a crime.

When our protectors stop a crime in progress as they are required to do, you have to have some way to charge and prosecute bad guys without waiting for a body count.

The crime of conspiracy. All entrapment does is provide the environment for potential harm. Where entrapment is wrong is when our protectors create or instigate criminal intent.

You offer the stage but not the script.

Stronger borders do need to be enforced. Watch this video!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0lwusMxiHc

However, when we do build stronger borders and spend more energy in protection, how do we do so in a manner that doesn’t cross any lines. For example, our airline security is over the top now and is an invasion of privacy.

Any suggestions?

Hey, I think this demonstrates the need for airplane passenger cavity checks of Caucasion Christians. I know the logic isn’t worth a damn. But, as the Marxists like to say, never waste a crisis—real, invented or perceived.
