I am confident that by now, you have all read about Sarah Palin's Alaska program. I'm also confident that you have all been witness to the MSM's overtime/overkill effort to destroy Sarah Palin's reputation.
One of the barrage of tactics the MSM has been resorting to is to brand Sarah Palin's Alaska as a "reality tv" show. Some of your have been guilty of assisting the MSM by posting stories which include the description of this particular show as being a "reality" program.
I would like to encourage all my fellow Freepers out there to call the show what it really is; a travel program. Let us refrain from helping the MSM in their consumed desire to destroy the Palin family's reputation and political endeavors.
I think documentaries, including travelogues, now have to be considered a subcategory within the reality TV genre.
I watched it and thought it was alright, pretty much what I expected. But, To say it's not a "reality show" and is a "travel show" instead, is disingenuous, at best. Perhaps the best thing you can say is that it's equal parts of both.
While it's not "The Osbournes", it's also not Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, nor Rick Steve's Europe either . I have never seen Rick Steves' home, nor watched him playing with his kids or talking about his neighbors, nor have I seen Marlon Perkins cooking in his running shorts while watching that Wild Kingdom.
“Reality TV” is an oxymoron.
The only reality TV is a live camera being broadcast live, real time... be it known, however - they’re working on technology to make even that capable of being altered, real time so what’s real, ain’t.
So people aren’t supposed to believe their lying eyes?
In modern media and our socio/political environment, labels ALWAYS matter.
Sarah Palins Alaska Premiere Draws 5 Million, Breaks TLC Ratings RecordThe ratings are in, and it looks like Sarah Palins Alaska is a hit. TLC says nearly 5 million total viewers tuned in to the premiere of the series.
In case you havent seen our previous coverage, Sarah Palins Alaska is a documentary series from producer Mark Burnett and starring former Alaska governor and Fox News Channel contributor Sarah Palin.
TLC says 4.96 million total viewers tuned in, including 1.8 million adults 25-54, and 1.6 million adults 18-49, two of the networks key demos. That is the best premiere in network history with regards to total viewers, beating the 2003 debut of What Not to Wear.
don’t be stupid.
Don’t be that gorilla in the cage throwing s*!#.
Appreciate the info.
Correct.
If anyone thinks it’s a reality show, try voting Piper off it.
Actually using Palin as the draw card for Alaska was a very smart move to showcase the state. Saying it was a bad PR move is simply foolish at best. Few if any other states are as unknown as Alaska. It’s Palins state...good move overall no matter what ones political affiliation.
I don’t like it. I have no interest in watching other people’s families “interact” whether it be the Palins, or anybody else.
Of course, I don’t like any reality shows, and I’d term it a reality show. Never been a fan of any of them from Survival to the Amazing Race.
The truth about reality shows though...there’s really no such thing. How is anybody really real if they know they’re being filmed! (call me cynical, but that’s the way I feel.)
I was.
"It's a miracle!" </sarcasm>
Yea. Like these idiots flooding this thread with screen names I have never seen on FR before. These clowns need to go back to DU or KOS.
Allows her to speak to other than the choir..
I just don’t watch reality shows. It’s not my thing.
I didn’t realize that her show was going to be one!
I loved it, to each his own...
troll.
get your butt back to DU where you came from.
SOYC, this is an election time coming up. You will see many screen names you don’t see every day.
Some of them have been around a long time and get more active as campaigns begin.
You know, you weren’t commenting to me, but I essentially said the same thing further up the thread (and I’m no troll.)
And I’m getting pretty tired of somebody that doesn’t like something that Palin did or disagrees with Palin being called a troll.
We are entitled to our opinion, so just know that everyone that isn’t in lock step with Palin is not a troll.
