The W.H. says Obama thinks Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow 'provide an invaluable service.'

The vice president told Democrats to “stop whining,” the president told them to “buck up,” and if there was any remaining doubt that press secretary Robert Gibbs’s exasperation over the summer with the “professional left” was the official view of the White House, they dispelled it this week.

But who, exactly, makes up this “professional left” that is so bothering President Barack Obama and his advisers? On Tuesday, Gibbs’ deputy, Bill Burton, made it clear that the occasionally critical cable personalities originally associated with this comment have the administration’s blessing.

"If you're on the left, if you're somebody like Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow or one of the folks who helps to keep our government honest and pushes and prods to make sure that folks are true to progressive values, then [the president] thinks that those folks provide an invaluable service.” Burton told reporters.

Noticeably absent from Burton’s embrace was anyone from the blogosphere once courted so avidly by the White House. Peter Daou thinks he knows why:

“With each passing day, I’m beginning to realize that the crux of the problem for Obama is a handful of prominent progressive bloggers, among them Glenn Greenwald, John Aravosis, Digby, Marcy Wheeler and Jane Hamsher.”

Every once in awhile, the liberal rag Politico provides a valuable service to the country. Today is one such instance. Politico exposes Obama for what he is, a 'progrssive' at heart, who is so thin skinned that he can't handle criticism form the right or the left.

To report that Obama thinks his problem is 'a handful of prominent progressive bloggers' shows the alternate reality the POTUS is living in. In Obamaworld, the problem is that he is too smart for even those liberal bloggers to comprehend. The problem is never Obama and his destructive policies, it is always that nobody understands how wonderful his policies will be if we just keep doing them for a couple more years. The depths of this man's narcissism grow deeper by the minute.

So, the Black House thinks FNC is bad, and MSLSD is good.

We have an administration on drugs, racism and communism.

Ah, yes. Loons like Olbermann and Maddow provide an invaluable service, but Fox News is a threat to America’s future.

Leftists hate any information channel they don’t control.

Ever since Obozo & co. started in against FoxNews we’ve been in serious “Hugo Chavez territory” -— since when is it the business of anyone in the White House to be telling Americans who is or who is not acceptable in journalism???

Oh goody, so the leftards at MSNBC provide a “valuable service” -— glad to know that. But FoxNews, which has a vastly richer and more genuinely diverse set of programming, is the subject of vicious, malicious attacks from this admin.

Instead of “shut up and sing” the message to Obama’s White House should be “shut up and try to govern” -— they have no business trying to be the arbiters of America’s journalism.

Manure is useful. Olbermann and Maddow spread it "liberally."

When I heard Obama had said, “if you want to take your ball and go home, you weren’t really serious in the first place.” I just about died laughing. You knew this was directed at his ‘progressive’ critics who wanted the whole ball of wax from the get go. The legislation passed that enacts the ‘progressive’ agenda piecemeal, isn’t what the instant gratification crew had in mind.

“and Fox News is destroying Amerika....yeah right”

What’s so funny about this is that if Obama, Pelosi, et al wanted to go on FOX to “set the record straight” FOX would let them in a heartbeat.

How many times over the past two years has Hannity, BOR or others offered to give Obama the entire hour for an interview.

He’s a big puss&. This has nothing to do with imbalance at FOX or on conservative radio. This is all about the fact that LIBS are crybabies who refuse to be interviewed. They just want to pontificate unchallenged.

By the way Libs, if FOX doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s there because million watch it. So, if it’s bad for America then basically, you’re saying that the people watching are bad for America. Which of course is the truth in your minds.

And who keeps these leftist nutcases honest? That's what I enjoy doing.

Don't forget Rachael Maddow in early 2009 lecturing us night after night about how every economist knows that welfare checks and food stamps create the most jobs per buck (greatest bang for buck), or Olberman critical of NYC mayor Giuliani for letting those planes crash into the buildings on 9/11, or Ed Schultz saying that businesses are refusing to hire new employees just to hurt Obama. Yes, I enjoy reporting these pearls of wisdom here.

Obama admires Maddow. I found this quote to be funny and true:

“This is one reason I hate MSNBC. If you’ve ever watched her show on MSNBC and the way she reports, it’s like everything to her is an ironic statement...with eye rolling etc...

I’ve always found her to be extremely irritating to watch because she’s a woman who apparently thinks that all she has to do is act like a college chick, doing ironic things, rolling her eyes and saying very, oh so very IRONIC things to other super ironic people........and thinks that what will get her ratings.

Seriously, it’s as if she just learned about irony or something. She should act more like a serious journalist and just report the news without trying to make everything ironic.”

No doubt Rachel Maddow helps make Michelle Obama feel near normal! But what, for Heaven’s sake, could Olbermann be doing ~ nothing good certainly.
