Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says illegal immigrants do essential work in the U.S. and he has firsthand knowledge of that - because they fix his house.
Powell, a moderate Republican, urged his party Sunday to support immigration generally because it is "what's keeping this country's lifeblood moving forward."
In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," he said a path to legal status should be offered to illegal immigrants because they "are doing things we need done in this country."
He added: "They're all over my house, doing things whenever I call for repairs, and I'm sure you've seen them at your house. We've got to find a way to bring these people out of the darkness and give them some kind of status."
Powell did not say whether he's hired illegal immigrants directly or they showed up with contractors.

Colon Powell has illegal aliens working on his house because our government is not doing its job of guarding our borders and our economy. However , our government is very good at taking my money to make public employeees like ColOn Powell fat and provide sevices for his illegal alien workers

Sheesh. Sounds like it would be quicker to hire your hubby than the “Handyman Company” I’ve been waiting on for over a month. I am wondering why they have such a backlog if the economy is so bad? One would think companies would jump at jobs in a timely manner - but I’m “on their list.” Maybe people are trying to fix up things and make do instead of replacing.
People like Powell don’t even understand how their comments sound to the vast majority of Americans who don’t hire household help.

This guy TOPS my list as the former military person that I lost respect for as fast as I did. He went from being someone I respected too someone I wish would simply disappear from public life and never re appear. This scum is one of the true reasons for early outs for officers. Man Admits To Killing Phoenix Woman
Confessed Killer Says Emotional Breakup, Racial Slur Lead To Brutal Attack

PHOENIX — A man who confessed to stomping a Phoenix woman to death over a racial slur has been found guilty of murder.
Maricopa County prosecutors said Jose Preciliano Quintero was convicted Monday of first-degree murder, sexual abuse and kidnapping.
Quintero was 16 at the time of the killing in December 2008 and prosecutors said he cannot be sentenced to death because of his age at the time of the crime. He faces a sentence of up to life in prison, with or without the possibility of parole after 25 years.
Quintero told police that he was upset because his girlfriend had just broken up with him and snapped when 38-year-old Helen Coulter called him a racial slur.
Authorities said Quintero admitted dragging Coulter to a vacant lot, stomping on her and sexually abusing her with a stick. An autopsy showed Coulter died of blunt force trauma.
General Secretary Powell, you have the right to remain silent.
So how does Colin know that his workers are illegal?
Does he ask for their papers?

Admit it Powell, dollars saved are your primary motivation, and you are too eager to turn that private ‘vice’ into a ‘virtue’, and obviously happy and proud for the opportunity to do so.
The overall strategy of the Left of course, is to foster
the proliferation of cheap illegal alien labor until they
can start corralling them into the trade unions, where, if things go as planned, they’ll be making more money than comparably skilled workers in the ‘private sector’.
Shop around. The man who takes care of my yard is a partly-disabled USA veteran who does a great job for a reasonable price. He'll have the work for as long as he's physically up to it, and I'll recommend him to anyone who asks.
So, Mr Powell denied a legitimate business person a paycheck by allowing an illegal to repair his home. Typical worldly hypocrite!
