NRA declines to endorse Reid in Nevada Senate race
The Associated Press ^ | August 27, 2010 | Kevin Freking

Sen. Harry's Reid's support for President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominees has cost him the endorsement of the National Rifle Association in his re-election bid. The NRA is a force in rural states like Nevada where many voters own guns and hunt. The absence of the NRA's blessing represents a setback that Reid's campaign was quick to address Friday by noting that NRA executive Wayne LaPierre once called him a "true champion of the Second Amendment." Christopher W. Cox, chairman of the NRA's Political Victory Fund, said Friday that the organization strongly opposed the confirmation of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court, and it had warned lawmakers that the NRA would weigh that vote when it came to its endorsements.

It’s a woman, Sharron Angle, and no, not to my knowledge.

It just seems incredibly strange to me, that the NRA would take a pass on helping to remove Harry Reid. Staying neutral doesn’t compute at all. It’s moves like this that baffle me when the NRA does them.

Obviously it’s time for Nugent to take the NRA reins; possibly the RNC.

Accuracy is important in posted responses and aim.

“like they need a shooting range in Nevada? You can shoot anywhere there on the millions of acres of Federal BLM land. “

Not true in Clark county!
Between the eco-nuts on one side and Pinky Reid’s big development buddies on the other (Pinky gets support from both) pretty much the entire county is off limits for shooting, 4 wheeling, or anything less than perfectly “Green” outside the strip.

The range plan predates Dingy Harry, he just threw his name at it in an effort to win votes.
Most of us here know him for the lying opportunist anti-RKBA runt he is.

Sharon Angle is “A” rated by NRA-ILA.
Pinky Reid was (over)rated as a “B”, not sure where he falls since pushing Sotomayor and Kagen on us.

Hopefully he is now down to a “C” or less, I’ve found him a conniving “D-” at best.

I had sent them an email saying I’d hang my expose on Harry around there necks if they supported Reid, I hope that helped.

When I found out they might endorse him I sent them an angry e-mail that if they endorsed him I would cancel my membership!

Instead of an email, I just sent them back their self addressed “postage paid” envelope with my standard letter attached to all the donation request stuff they sent me. Some of them got pretty heavy and in addition to my venting to them about dropping them over dirty harry, they were paying a hefty postage fee. lol

Very true. NRA Members were horrified by the photos of NRA President Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox palling around with a man who has a terrible 2A record.

The NRA leadership needs to be replaced.

In their defense, electing Kirk could be enough to kill any ability for legislation to pass after the election because Kirk will be sworn in immediately. Yes he is a Limp-Richard and likely a closet sodomite, but his situation at this point is somewhat unique.

Who the hell would want the respect from a bunch of liars like you?

I told you more than a dozen times the NRA didn’t endorse reid and they don’t support the Disclose bill.

Deaf ears.

Free Republic had thirty three thread on slamming the NRA and not one of those threads was pulled and yet the lies from FR and the goa continue.

And yet:
No one can tell me what the goa has ever done on their own.
No one can explain why the goa took the Narrow View on Heller except they would have lost their golden goose if we didn’t need McDonald.
The goa still does nothing while the SAF and the NRA continue sueing places like Chicago.
The government continues to pay for parks, soccer fields, swimming pools, football fields, baseball fields and a single shooting park is created and you get all crybaby??

Let someone know when Free Republic replaces the good works from the NRA. I won’t hold my breath. P#ssies.

Strong letter to follow.

It’s about time. Now the NRA needs to withhold it’s endorsement of ANY rat bastard demoRAT. There is no such thing as a pro-gun demoRAT just as there is no such thing as a pro-life demoRAT. A vote for a congressional demoRAT is a vote for Nazi Pelowsi and a vote for a senate demoRAT is a vote for dirty dingy Harry Reid. I am going to call the NRA-ILA office on Monday and applaud them for withholding support from Harry Reid....they need to go beyond it however and actively campaign & oppose dirty dingy Harry Reid.

“NRA declines to endorse Reid in Nevada Senate race”

It’s a wonder that we we had to wonder this long what they would do.

Exactly.

I quit the NRA a couple of months ago sending a stern letter stating my reasons (McCain endorsement, compromising with the house on disclosure, and glowing article about Harry in the Rifleman).

I now belong to Gun Owners of America.

“...wasn’t the only one to contact them ...”

You weren’t. Count on it.

“..The NRA heard loud and clear from the members and crapped their pants...”

That can only be a GOOD thing.

Like it or not, they ARE the 800 pound gorilla that the left knows is waiting in the corner.

Our job is to keep it that way - and build as many other gun rights groups up as we can in the process.

This is a good thing.

LFOD, all.
