A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero.
"It's a very touchy thing because they want to do this on sacred ground," said Dave Kaiser, 38, a blaster who is working to rebuild the World Trade Center site.

Yes. And, if it's built, and built ANYWHERE NEAR Ground Zero, the day will come that the muslim call to prayer will be heard there five times a day.
They will just hire some overseas labor and then get some masked men with AK-47s to guard the vicinity.
I think that Islam has backup “dispensations” for such things. In order to get what they want, they are all too willing to ignore their normal prohibitions or rewrite their slithery rules to accommodate things that normally are against their “religion.”
I think the workers should bring in pork chop, ham sandwiches, etc., for their lunches and mix them in with the mortar. Then after the building’s complete, start putting out the word anonymously that there’s pork within the walls, floors, and ceilings.
lol
They will just bring in a builder from somewhere else.
Thanks...no need to wait for me to post...it would be good if you could post it whenever you like...I know this is not the only reason to stop the mosque...but it is the one I’m most sensetive to...shaira law and a multidue of other reason, but I think it best to be pithy.
Like I said, I don’t put much in those...but I guess some people find it useful for venting their frustrations. And I find it amusing that this is happening all over.
I was there at Ground Zero for the protest, in a crowd of probably 1500. There was a VERY full roster of speakers, and some good, and not so good music. The only speaker who seemed to see the Big Picture was Frank Gaffney, although I was pleased to see a majority of speakers invoking Sharia Law as the possible ultimate goal of this Imam.
There were ironworkers, bikers who’d ridden in from Shanksville,PA., City Councilmen from outside Manhattan, Firefighters, and so many others it was hard to keep track.
The whole point about “where we are now” with this issue must take into account the “we’re not backing down, we have the right, this is too important to us and the rest of the world to start the process of healing the rift between Americans and Muslims”.....this is of course patent nonsense, but this is the way this radical Imam is playing it. As everybody knows he’s now on a State Dept. sponsored tour of places like Saudi Arabia, and the U.A.E., with no clear goal other than ‘communication’. They would never admit that the goal is fundraising, and no one has the nerve to anticipate ahead of time what we’d do if he came back with a hundred million dollars to build this 13-story
Headquarters. We’re in a holding pattern in which Rauf is trying to radicalize those heretofore ‘peaceful’ Muslims
in New York by letting the opposition be heard, so he can turn on his usual talking points of “see, we’re being victimized again, all I wanted to do was “heal”, I told you we’d meet with Islamophobia”. The overall plan here is , as this ‘dialectic’ continues to play itself out in the media, to win over both Islamic hearts and minds, at the same time
as he’s winning over American hearts and minds.
THis is a grandiose and unrealistic plan which is founded in fantasy: it will not succeed.
But it’s the same plan Obama had when he ran for the Presidency and won it.
The Trojan Horse that Obama came in on is the same on Rauf came in on.
They both share the same Agenda.
Rauf’s is to over as long a period of time as in necessary,
FIRST: to establish himself as a Political Player in this newly transformed America Obama has laid the groundwork for,
and THEN, to slowly work on his newly radicalized American Muslims to bring them AND us into the fold, where we’ll accept an Islamic Community with its OWN law, Sharia, living WITHIN the USA, which has ITS own law, whatever that is now or could become. He’s not counting on the fact that perhaps there are a great number of Muslims in NY and elsewhere who don’t WANT to be subjected to Sharia Law, and an overwhelming majority of Americans who won’t countenance two separate and incompatible systems of justice and religion. This , in a sense, is what we fought the Civil War over, and we’re not going to be dragged, even ever-so-slowly, into a set of new circumstances whereby this time
it’s Global Radical Islam which wants to do battle with us over their “right” as a politically powerful ‘community’ to
operate as they please while subverting our Constitution.
THeir ultimate goal, probably envisioned by them as happening sometime in the distant future, is for us ALL to SUBMIT to Sharia Law, and develop a working relationship people like Imam Rauf as a ‘separate but equal’ Authority.
THese are very long term goals, and I hate to drag another religion into it, but these Radical Islamists have the patience of Job: they expect us to eventually see the error of our ways, and submit to THEM.
Long term or short term, I don’t think the full implications of this are recognized by many people, who still are willing to work out a compromise with Rauf & Co.
to ‘move’ the Mosque anywhere ‘not too close’ to Ground Zero. They win either way, because if they finally accept a new location, they lose the gloating symbolism Ground Zero would’ve provided, but then GAIN an unearned reputation as being Moderates, willing to compromise, which they’re NOT.
I’ve been elated and then profoundly disappointed by this whole aspect of “Why The Mosque Can’t or Won’t be Built”, as it relates to trade and labor unionists.
Why? Because most of what I’ve heard on the radio are brief interviews with Union this-or-that workers who boldly claim that his union and all his fellows would not pick up a hammer to in any way aid in the construction of a Mosque at Ground Zero. That all sounds great until he gets to Part Two, which is usually something like “But if they move it six blocks away, I’ll be the first in line”.
I’ve heard and read this at least half a dozen times in the past week.
THIS unfortunately is where things are now: it started with the feeble opening gambit of those against the Mosque opening the dialogue with the “It’s insensitive” template.
(NO KIDDING!) thereafter, we’ve gotta engage in a ludicrous conversation about whether it is or isn’t ‘sensitive’.
Fact is, the Mosque should not be built anywhere in New York. It’s not a Mosque, there are already a hundred of them in the five boroughs. It’s a Presidential Palace for Imam Rauf to rule over all of NY’s Muslims, and he slowly tries to further radicalize them, and bring them ,ten or twenty years from now, AND us, a century from now, under Sharia Law.

WOW! I saw that was E. 41st St. and Madison Avenue.
Looking at it first I thought it might be from yesterday, down at Ground Zero, where I was all day at the protest.
I heard a lot LATER about ANOTHER counter-protest, going on a few blocks away, but never saw ANY evidence of it for the entire time our protest was going on, for what seemed like 3-4 hours. WHEN did this traffic-stopping Mecca-bowing obstruction occur?
Seven World Trade Center has been completely rebuilt. It was finished in 2006 and stands 741 feet tall. (Original was 610 feet tall.) My friend’s wife works in the building.
One World Trade Center (Freedom Tower) is under construction and about 350 ft tall now. IIRC, it’s supposed to be 1776 ft tall when completed.
The foot prints of the original One and Two World Trade Center (the Twin Towers) were turned into a memorial, and are nearly complete.
For historical reference, workers constructed the 1250 ft tall Empire State Building in 13 months from 1930-31.
They will when their families go hungry and their rent comes due.
They’ll find plenty of workers who lack scruples. Especially in this economy.
Most of construction is Mexican from what I hear.
Yes, it is disturbing. I am not for thought-policing people, but when you’ve got openly subversive groups working to destroy America you’re foolish not to take action.
Look at what happened to McCarthy. He was right on, but the threat manipulated the situation and they’ve had free reign ever since.
We’re walking a tight rope and it is too easy for the media to paint us a bigots. I think using the term Islamists is important because it let’s us take a reasonable middle ground against the most radical elements.
Focusing on Sharia, Victory Mosques and the radicalism of Imam Rauf are important as well.
Pray for the Republic.
I agree. We need to handle it nimbly, though. McCarthy, although thoroughly correct, overreached and that allowed the foe to undermine and marginalize him. McCarthy set the anti-communist movement back generations.
If we can thread the needle on this it will greatly improve our position. We need to focus on Islamists and radical Islam.
Separating the average/normal Muslims from their more radical brethren keeps us strong. Keeping the mushy middle solidly in the pro-American camp is important too. Slamming the liberals for their mamby-pamby responses to violence and threats is mothers milk to the cause of liberty. Multiculturalism is mind control and the thought police will deliver us into the hands of the enemy.
They seem to worship at the altar of Obsequiousness.
Trouble is there are many lame brained politicians and community organizers who will jump on their bandwagon for the monetary and political "Fix" it could afford them....equally as much those who might oppose them will not take a stand for fear of the political fallout to themselves or those they associate with...
This , in a sense, is what we fought the Civil War over, and were not going to be dragged, even ever-so-slowly, into a set of new circumstances whereby this time its Global Radical Islam which wants to do battle with us over their right as a politically powerful community to operate as they please while subverting our Constitution............Their ultimate goal, probably envisioned by them as happening sometime in the distant future, is for us ALL to SUBMIT to Sharia Law, and develop a working relationship people like Imam Rauf as a separate but equal Authority.
Muslims continueously do these street blocking prayers whenever their numbers are great enough to pull it off. Europe ...France, Britain etc. all have this happening. American people have just got to take a stand very soon as they are moving at a rapid pace now with BO encouraging “their “ Freedoms over the will of the people.
