A website that lists the victims of Righthaven LLC's "shake down" lawsuits that are causing irreparable harm to the blogging, non-profit and small business communities.
Righthaven LLC -- a bottom feeding legal outfit -- has teamed up with the Las Vegas Review-Journal to sue 'mom and pop' websites, as well as nonprofit, political action, community action, writers, and forum board operators for copyright violations. The strategy of Righthaven is to sue hundreds and thousands of these websites and counts on the fact that many are unfunded and will be forced to "settle out of court." All cases are being filed in a Nevada Federal Court and must be fought in this jurisdiction. You are not safe from Righthaven if you are out-of-state. Are you their next victim?

Yup. But they are also suing people that simply linked to their site.
Excellent question!!!
Maybe he should discuss this strategery with the RIAA before proceeding any farther.
Opps...wrong thread..
They can sue on any grounds they want. Whether it goes anywhere, even to trial, is another matter. But they're hoping everyone will just give them money to make them go away and not test the legalities (cause they'd lose).
Yes, though most have gone out of business. (It's not the liberal bias killing papers, but the growing illiteracy of Americans.)
I understand.
I knew a reporter almost 20 years ago and he told me that he was directed not to write above an 8th grade level. Wonder how far down on grade level they are now.
Actually, they're up to 10th grade level now. Unfortunately, 10th grade level is what 4th grade level used to be.
Here’s a question for Freeper lawyers (not JimRob since he is a party to a suit in his official capacity as owner of FR):
Could Righthaven be counter sued if they do not file DMCA take down notices? Could a hair trigger lawsuit when another avenue is open and authorized by the Congress be considered a Tort itself?
Wish that I had a face palm pic but I don’t.
“Are there any conservative newspapers anywhere? In any city?”
I highly doubt it. It was long ago understood by the communists/globalists (I would add
satanists”) that they had to control the information from cradle to grave to keep the masses unawares. It doesn’t stop with the public education indoctrination. The Print news, in my opinion, is only marginally better than the MSM/TV news.
That’s why the demand is for the talk radio/blogosphere. It’s to balance out the rest. Many People want the truth, and they can see the MSM isn’t giving it. Those who just want to be reassured as the python squeezes them tighter, well, they have the MSM.
.
.
We call our local paper the Communist Rag. We aren’t subscribers either. And I don’t have TV anymore. FR is my source for news.
Why don’t they all start scheduling court dates...how is this guy going to show up at 3000 hearings? How is his client going to pay for all those attorneys?
Do I have to pick just one or can it be the last 2? LOL
To date, he has filed about 100 lawsuits, 28% of which have already been settled for estimates of $2000-5000. He has hired a bunch of slugs to surf for violations, so they can’t help him in court, but he could still probably handle the remaining suits. He has no client, he purchased all of the copyrights from LVRJ, so he is the owner of the copyrights.
But, I think that you are on the right track. He cannot prevail if everyone takes him to court. Unfortunately, many of his victims can’t afford to take the risks. This is a perfect example of how distorted our court system has become in the hands of the legal profession.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that, but he would have to spend a bunch of money in an attempt to prevail and it will amount to much more than he likely would get from settlements. Whether he's willing to risk losing a large sum of money from counter suits if he loses may give him pause, especially if he pisses off some heavy hitters with this crap.
Greed at its worse.
