KTUU, an NBC-affiliate station in Anchorage, is reporting that former Sen. Ted Stevens (R) has died in the crash near Dillingham in the Southwest Alaska.

Dave Dittman, a former aide and longtime family friend of former Sen. Ted Stevens says Stevens was killed in a plane crash near Dillingham Monday night. Nine people were on board, including former NASA Chief Sean O'Keefe. Five people were killed in the crash, but other identities were not known, nor are the conditions of the survivors.

Late through the night rescue crews were battling bad weather conditions to reach the scene, where Good Samaritan personnel had already made it, said Air National Guard spokesman Maj. Guy Hayes.

A military C-130 and a Pave Hawk helicopter were waiting in Dillingham for the weather to break and reached the site just after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

No reason for Obama to cause this. He was a has been Senator. Prayers to his family. The thing that pisses me off about the nosey media is did they wait for all family members to find out about this before going public?

Obamacide?

An 84-year-old retired Senator from Alaska? Probably not. Not that 0bama isn't evil enough to attempt it, but I can't imagine he'd view Stevens as worth the effort.

Reports say the plane was being flown by a different pilot than usual, weather conditions were really bad, and the plane crashed only miles from where it took off.

I believe I read that his wife and kid(s) were killed in a plane crash. If so...pure irony...I bet he wished this 100 times.

What did he have on The Clinton’s ? That’s my immediate thought whenever anyone dies in an airplane accident. JFK Jr,or whoever, the litany of Clinton enemies who have died in plane crashes is far beyond the odds an insurance actuary could possibly set.

I’ve flown around that area in the summer and often you end up scud running under a thick overcast. Miles and miles at less than 500ft over miles of wilderness. If the weather closes in more..you go lower.
Not good country side to put down if you have an engine failure.
Prayers for the families and the survivors. Protect the rescuer who are also risking a lot.

Fox Radio just said something like "...Ted Stevens is believed to be among the dead."

RIP

The irony of Rangel complaining that he won’t have his hearing before his primary.

That is exactly what was done to Ted Stevens.

He was forced to stay in D.C. unable to campaign in Alaska.

Small consolation that Steven’s conviction was overturned.

He lost is seat to the ugly demonrat Begich.
