Hilarious Video: Interview with a Zombie
Youtube ^ | June 2010 | Tom Woods

Posted on 07/02/2010 3:51:59 AM PDT by AK_47_7.62x39

This is GREAT! Woods is an academic with a sense of humor. He knows how to mock the Chris Matthews type "interviews" that characterize the establishment media. This interview with a "zombie" who can do nothing but mindlessly recite cant words and phrases is a great example.

Tom Woods, author of "The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History" has written a new book that I think is destined to be one of the most influential books of this era. "Nullification: How To Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century" deals with the history and the legal/moral justification of states saying "NO!" to unjust and illegal laws from DC. The vid itself is a riot.

There are so many of the cable jackasses who could have sat in the zombie chair. To me, the purpose of having a guest is to let the guest explain or discuss at length a particular topic. It works ok when the topic is somewhat neutral. But when it gets political, the conversation ceases to exist, and as with the zombie, the host interrupts, throws out talking points, calls names, or engages in gotcha games with clip segments of something the guest said. This is known to most Freepers already. But the zombie host in the video is a great way to illustrate some of these points.

It bears reminding people of two of the most disgusting displays of liberal tolerance by cable hosts I have yet witnessed. One was when Larry O'Donnell kept shouting at the swift boat guest, John O'Neill. The other was when Chris Matthews went berserk when Michelle Malkin was the guest.

I have been persuaded to take yet another title to which I am entitled and add it to my tag line. In addition to K.E and N.P and +12, I can add the title N.C. (Not North Carolina ) for Neo Confederate.

Ohaha despises the Constitution. Ohaha probably never even read the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, The Federalist papers, etc. He supposedly taught constitutional law, and voters rights, but he trucked with various fringe elements at the U of Chicago. The whiff of affirmative action fouls the air.

The Ovomitons forgot that States have rights that the feds government cannot thwart.

============================================

REFERENCE The Constitution is the limiting document upon the feds; the federal government cannot become greater than the granting power. That is, the federal servant cannot become greater than its master........the states.

According to Fox's judicial analyst, Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, Ohaha's healthcare reforms amount to "commandeering" the state legislatures for federal purposes, which the Supreme Court has forbidden as unconstitutional. "The Constitution does not authorize the Congress to regulate state governments.

Nevertheless, the Congress has told the state governments that they must modify their regulation of certain areas of healthcare, they must surrender their regulation of other areas of healthcare, and they must spend state taxpayer-generated dollars in a way that the Congress wants it done.(Excerpt) Read more at newsmax.com............

States Can Check Washington's Power; by directly proposing constitutional amendments
WSJ 12/21/09 | DAVID B. RIVKIN JR. AND LEE A. CASEY
FR Posted 12/2/09 by rhema

For nearly a hundred years, federal power has expanded at the expense of the states—to a point where the even the wages and hours of state employees are subject to federal control. Basic health and safety regulations that were long exercised by states under their "police power" are now dominated by Washington.

The courts have similarly distorted the Constitution by inventing new constitutional rights and failing to limit governmental power as provided for in the document. The aggrandizement of judicial power has been a particularly vexing challenge, since it is inherently incapable of correction through the normal political channels.

There is a way to deter further constitutional mischief from Congress and the federal courts, and restore some semblance of the proper federal-state balance. That is to give to states—and through them the people—a greater role in the constitutional amendment process.

The idea is simple, and is already being mooted in conservative legal circles. Today, only Congress can propose constitutional amendments—and Congress of course has little interest in proposing limits on its own power. Since the mid-19th century, no amendment has actually limited federal authority.

But what if a number of states, acting together, also could propose amendments? That has the potential to reinvigorate the states as a check on federal power. It could also return states to a more central policy-making role.

The Framers would have approved the idea of giving states a more direct role in the amendment process. They fully expected that the possibility of amendments originating with the states would deter federal aggrandizement, and provided in Article V that Congress must call a convention to consider amendments anytime two-thirds of the states demand it.(Excerpt) Read more at online.wsj.com ...

Great concept. Poor execution.

I understand what you are saying. If he had hired a director, it could have been even better... (like both of them removing lapel mikes to facilitate a "brain chase".... we could have edited that out). Nevertheless, I love the concept of an ivy league, stuffy academic historian/author being willing to do a vid like this in the first place! See if you can find the review of nullificaton by Chris Matthews and tell me that did not inspire him here!

The idea presented by Tom Woods is brilliant.

Jury nullification is the refusal of a jury to enter the verdict that an unjust law demands. Tom Woods seeks to inform us that this is the definitive remedy - just do not enforce unjust laws.

Brilliant. I am going to get the book. “Nullification”

Yes, it is ultimately court and legal system dependent, but it is deeper than simply jury nullification. It is STATE NULLIFICATION of unjust and unconstitutional FEDERAL LAW. Nullification is the simple idea of the "lesser magistrate" (to quote Calvin) simply rebels and refuses to submit to the dictates of a tyrant. We have the principle in jury nullification, but the principle is also as American as apple pie in the idea of STATE nullification.

We have this going on now, for example. Did you know it is FEDERAL LAW that we have a national ID card? It is. The reason it is not enforced is......(drumroll) THE STATES ARE REFUSING TO ENFORCE IT OR COOPERATE! The same with Montana, Tennessee, Utah, and several other states who have passed resolutions refusing to cooperate with the ATF re: aspects of firearms legislation. The same with Arizona and the immigration situation. The same with "medical marijuana" (the FED has NO authority to create and enforce such statutes as are on the books.... and btw, I don't smoke pot). The same with the remarks upstream re: Obamacare "federalizing" state legislatures to enforce universal healthcare. There are many examples of state nullification GOING ON NOW.

Do not kid yourself. DC fears this mentality more than ANY cultural movement going on, and it is a fear that runs through BOTH parties, although the Dems are more egregious in some areas. If this really took hold, it would transform the entire cultural structure of the USA, which has been drifting towards collectivism for decades, but has recently turned that drift into a full steam ahead sprint.

Please DO buy the book. Buy two or three of them and give some to friends. I have no financial or other interest in this, btw. I am simply a patriot who would like my country back.
