Obama and Dems heading for electoral disaster
The Washington Examiner ^ | June 25, 2010 | Byron York

Posted on 06/25/2010 8:39:45 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

All around, there are Democrats telling us their prospects for November are looking up. Things aren't as bad as Republicans say! Health care is becoming more popular! The country wants financial reform! People still like Barack Obama! Isn't Joe Barton awful!

They're fooling themselves. The basic indicators of voters' intentions -- their general mood and attitude toward the policies of Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid -- are clear and solid. Unless those indicators change, and most experts believe that would take a huge, unforeseen event that fundamentally alters the political equation, Democrats are in for serious losses this November. The only question is whether those losses will be big enough for them to lose their huge majorities in the House and Senate. Even if they're not, the party will be badly weakened in the next Congress.

The latest evidence is a new survey from pollsters Peter Hart and Bill McInturff for the Wall Street Journal and NBC. The number of people who say the country is headed in the wrong direction is 62 percent -- the highest it has been since the final days of George W. Bush. The troubled economy, of course, is the most important issue, and 66 percent say they expect the economy to stay the same or get worse in the next year.

"There is a sense across the board that things aren't working," says Republican pollster David Winston.

Obama's approval rating is at 45 percent, versus 48 percent disapproval -- the first time the president has ever been underwater in the Journal poll. (By way of contrast, the president's approval rating was 61 percent in April 2009, his high point in the Journal poll.)

I don’t think there is a nationwide process to remove sitting Senators or Congressmen. It’s probably different on a state-by-state basis if it exists at all.

The only way Obama can be removed from office is if he is impeached. Right now, that’s not going to happen. That’s why we MUST retake the Congress.

The contempt Obama shows for the opposition is returned doublefold.

What do we do about the fools that elected this ‘Prince of Fools’? They will still be there like a dead weight thwarting any progress (real progess).

It’s the national popular vote.

A journalist who has been writing about this was a guest on with Rick Santorum who subs on the Bill Bennett radio show each Friday. I can’t remember his name. Five states have already passed it, he said.

Perhaps civil war or dividing the country will only solve that problem....

It may end up that conservatives will move to states like Arizona that support individual rights over federal rule.

See, that's the problem, he IS the prince of fools. He is the preferred choice of fools.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

"The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

"The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

The left would not abide the idea that some people are living outside of their control. They will demand the use of force to bring the “rebels” back under their thumb.

I can’t see Texas going along with this, and Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida would also be problematic.

I expect a serious provocation by North Korea, Iran and/or Venezuela simultaneously with the continuing Gulf oil disaster and financial market collapse, dollar plummeting, hurricanes, earthquakes, forest fires, lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

I'm expecting dogs and cats living together at any moment...

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

The military should put Obama under arrest since he is a third world president. Then call for new elections. Seriously.

“Will the Republicans stand up for the people and reverse a lot of this junk or will they instantly get drunk with power”

In SC-4, Trey Gowdy (R) defeated long time incumbent Bob Inglis (Rino) in the primary. Gowdy pledged to work for the “overhaul” of ObamaCare, not its repeal. Looks the power drunk option has set in even before his election to Congress.

No time to get over-confidant. This guy would think nothing of attacking Iran just before the election to try and bring public opinion to his side.

Obama's not on the ballot in November, so it wouldn't be a question of changing CiC in the middle of a conflict. And if the voters have more confidence in Republicans on national security, then another war might possibly give them even more reason to elect a Republican House and Senate.

Between the media setting the bar so high, and the ‘Pubbies seeming to lack the ‘nads to grab the ball and run with it, I don’t see this happening.

The media has set the bar for “Victory” so high that if the ‘Pubbies fail to get a majority in both houses of Congress, it will be announced as “win” for the Democrats and the Obama Agenda.

Meanwhile the ‘Pubbies seem to be content to run on the “We’re not Obama” platform.

I’ll believe the Democrats are going to have an “electoral disaster” only after the votes are counted.
