Beck shows device that will allow Obama to turn-off your home's electricity
Glenn Beck Show | 6/17/10

Posted on 06/17/2010 3:19:23 PM PDT by pabianice

Beck just showed a schematic of the device (owned by Freddie Mack) that will remotely control when and how much electricity you will be allowed to use in your home. All your (new, mandated) outlets will be monitored and if Obama disapproves of your electrical use, that outlet will be shut-down remotely. This is likely to be before Congress after the November elections but before the current congress ends. All part of Crap and Tirade.

Hmm, I wonder which states’ people will get shut down?

Gee, not those that vote Republican. Of course not. Why, that would be tyrranical and corrupt. /SARC

As I once told a future ex-wife... "Can't cut me off, if you don't know where I'm gettin' it."

It pays to go galt and be self sufficient.

You have to question the motives of Fannie to pay for this. The people that ran it were corrupt. Why the need to put smart meters in all houses. Too big brother.

I had a Polish friend who told me about growing up in Poland in an apartment (in the late 1950’s-60’s) where the government would turn the heat OFF in April, and the Heat back ON in Sept or October....didn’t matter what the temps were.....

This is from 2008, I don’t know what was the final outcome:

California Energy Commission wants to give government control over your thermostat during “emergency events”

http://www.ucan.org/energy/electricity/california_energy_commission_wants_give_government_control_over_your_thermostat_during_emergency_events

California utilities would control the temperature of new homes and commercial buildings in emergencies with a radio-controlled thermostat, under a proposed state update to building energy efficiency standards.

Customers could not override the thermostats during “emergency events,” according to the proposal, part of a 236-page revision to building standards. The document is scheduled to be considered by the California Energy Commission, a state agency, on Jan. 30.

The description does not provide any exception for health or safety concerns. It also does not define what are “emergency events.”

And this is from April 2010, Arizona:

Arizona’s largest power company wants control over customer thermostats

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/2010/04/23/20100423arizona-aps-air-conditioning.html#ixzz0r9XzROj4

During hot afternoons the following summer, or when there is a problem on the power grid such as a downed transmission line, APS will be able to turn up their thermostats remotely or run their air-conditioners in 20-minute intervals, alternating with other people on the plan.

Probably easy to hack, or circumvent. Most things dealing with electricity are. As with computers, they depend on end user ignorance as a large part of their business model. Except with electricity, things tend to be easier.

See my post 14 — it’s NOT a joke, some states are already trying to control your energy uses remotely, adjust your thermostat, turn on or off your airconditioning.

See links in my post 14.

I imagine people would put a box around their thermostat, and blow in warmer or cooler air to fool it.

The concept of the utility controlling you electricity consumption is not a joke....Several utilities offer this now for those who want a discount during non-peak hours...the technology is currently available...

The patent that Glenn presented was a pathetic joke.....It was a simple lockout plug...Yawwwwn...

I wont comment on the grammar or typing in your post, but could you please clarify?

1. I lived in Knoxville, and they did not have government control shutoff devices on my thermostat or outlets. To which electric company are you referring?

2. Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac have not had patents on “these” for decades?

3. What is your issue with Beck? He often has very current, newly investigated news programs—ex. Van Jones for starters....
