A friend of mine is flying for a group of media photogs in the Gulf of Mexico. He took these pics yesterday and emailed them to me. First few are his, taken with his iPhone, last few were taken by one of the press photog's using a digital camera.

Holy crap! I am still waiting for the media to ask Obama why he refused the offer of the equipment that would have sucked up the oil that was offered to him on day 3 of the spill. So far just crickets and blaming BP.

A small tactical nuclear warhead, minimum critical mass, 2 or 3 kilotons only, would seal the well head. Why is no one considering this?

What I've read is that the sea floor in the area of the oil leak is of a type that is fractured and unstable. Apparently, it's very different from sub-sea geology where nukes have been successfully used before.

It's been said that using a nuke in the Gulf would only fracture the sea floor even worse than it already is, and probably create a gusher that couldn't be shut down or controlled with any human technology.

What makes you so sure it would seal the wellhead?

Why is no one considering this?

It is a consideration, but the cure may be worse than the disease. Understand that this well is pumping oil (and other stuff) at 20 - 70K PSI. There is nothing on earth that can contain that pressure. The pressure from this well are what caused the catastrophic equipment failure. It's not really that anything didn't work right, it's that it wasn't designed to work under these pressures. Normal well pressure is around 1500 PSI.

Now also understand that this well goes into unknown territory. No one knows for sure what's at the bottom of that bore. Further, the pressure from the well has caused the casing to crack/break in many other areas besides just the well head we get to see on TV. Because of the unknowns regarding this very deep well it might not be the most practical of ideas to disturb what is already known to be a volatile and fragile situation.

I already have nightmares about a "Black Sea" in both my birthplace and current home. I wouldn't want them to exacerbate that particular scenario, but in the end it may be what happens anyway. At this point that nightmare pales in comparison to the toxins in the air over the Gulf. I worry about poison rain falling all over the Southeast here in the near future.

The first few pics reminded me it’s time to book a couple jumps out of Ocean City (MD) airport.

What...both of you said.

Someone emailed me a youtube link from a pastor, Lindsey Williams (whom I’ve never heard of, but evidently has a background in the oil industry and some high ranking contacts still in the business) and he was on a show, Alex or Allen Jones, IIRC, the other day. I’m in Utah, I’ve never heard the show. But this pastor said his upper echelon contacts in oil boardrooms have considered this, but the outcome is so unpredictable, it is frightening. It doesn’t sound like they have the stomach for that.

I guess this pastor served as a Chaplain at the Prudhome Boy outfit in Alaska. The only reason I remembered it is I never knew that pipeline installations had Chaplains.

I’m surprised these images are still up on the web, certain powers could be a little upset that they are circulating.

Makes Obama a liar and a deceiver.

As I understand it, Mr Obama has yet to talk to the CEO of BP. Who the hell is he talking to? His teleprompter? The honesty we have seen from democrats, since the beginning of the rule of ONE, has been nothing short of revealing to the point of confirming everything you never wanted to know about the democrat party and the agenda. Starting with the cosmetic killing of the unborn, equal rights for women, and going on to the destruction of everything an American holds dear, to include God, Country, the Constitution and the environment. What continues to amaze me is that anyone in their right mind, can call themselves a democrat. Republicans are a close second, at least where uncontrolled spending and size of the federal leviathan are concerned.

How in the heck did your friend get those? My understanding is that BP has made this a “no-fly” zone and the gov’t. goes along with it. Reporters have been arrested in LA, video cams confiscated....how did he/she manage this? Wow!

(Once you see the pics, you know why they want to keep fly overs forbidden, though I’ve read of other reasons, too.)

I wouldn’t call it “ground zero”.

When were they used before to seal leaks?

Aerial Pics from “BP Ground Zero” taken yesterday. You’ve got to see these. Nothing like them has been seen in the news.

So the question is why was a liner hanger not placed between casings 8 and 9 and who was responsible for this “highly unusual” failing?
