I can hear her now at a wedding, “Yes, Pastor, I don’t think they should marry. Stop the wedding.” I can hear her on a bus, “Busdriver, Busdriver, top the bus. I have to pee.” She is an idiot, and deserves no respect. She couldn’t hold her water long enough for someone to get recognition for their choices. Pure beotch.

If you can read this, thank a teacher.

Since you’re reading it in English, thank a veteran.

The conflict you propose is irrelevant, because schools are not allowed to restrict student-led expressions of faith, per a Supreme Court ruling. Ergo, though the school would have some right (and obligation) to prevent a religious traffic jam at a ceremony like a graduation, they have no place engaging in other common abuses such as rejecting religious themed schoolwork assignments or preventing prayer and Bible reading.

As another freeper said, you need to go back to Con Law 101.

He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.”

Thomas Paine

A quite wise and true saying, but saying that a public employee should refrain from engaging in politicking on the job (especially in a way that insults students during a moment meant to honor them) hardly counts as "oppression."

This my south bashing pals here is why you will never be like us down here.

You’ve lost the field where you live, you might ought to concentrate on that.

Somebody must be well connected. Two teachers held signs and only one gets named now that it’s blown up.

"Man I would have done that a few years back, but where can a retired person go that needs to continue receiving SS and Medicare, since those are the programs the Feds told me I had to 'invest in' my entire life?????"

My brother lives in the Philippines and rarely spends more than his SS check each month. He lives very well there.

That is the purpose for seperation of church and state, to avoid discrimination.

There is no such thing.

I've got nothing against a teacher voicing an anti-war perspective; and I mean religious, moral, liberal, conservative, whatever; I've heard some pretty conservative FReepers, even, say they'd not deploy, or not want their kid to deploy, to Afghanistan at least under the present Obaminable conditions, so guess that's anti-war.

But this teacher chose the wrong forum by far. This was the students' day; people stood to applaud the students' commitment, not "war" and not "US policy in Afghanistan and Iraq."

This isn't dialog, it's effrontery. She shouldn't be given the satisfaction of thinking she "used a teaching moment to spark a dialogue." She deserves to have several imposing persons explain the matter to her ---in a way that gets through her bozone.

Right, and there never was.

The Establishment Clause has long been completely and purposely distorted by secularists as a justification to expel the slightest mention of 'religion' - God - from all forms of government. Schools were an easy target. U.S. government-run schools are a very expensive disaster. The kind of anti-war (if the U.S. is a part of it) loony-left 'teachers' we see in this video - she is hardly an anomaly - are what we now have 'teaching' our children...probably for more than money per year than most of the folks - taxpayers - that provide her salary along with her union-mandated 'Cadillac' benefits, a shortened work year and of course, tenure - a guaranteed job). This is the thanks you get.

I think what she did was inappropriate, but I don’t think it warrants a beating (which was the post I was responding to).

I am always disappointed in hearing about members of my profession who are so very ignorant!

I am happy to say that there are more conservative teachers than one might think. More are leaving the NEA once they realize the truth! I will certainly celebrate the day I see the end of the NEA and the national Department of Education!

Not to nitpick, but the conversation led away from the thuggish idea of assaulting her for her views several posts ago, and you posted the Paine quote in response to rottndog, who not only never mentioned violence, but didn’t even say anything insulting about the teacher. You and I (and the rest of the people discussing this issue) were discussing your inaccurate view of the right to speech.

Again, this woman has no right to engage in overt political expression during the workday in a school setting. That is the reality, and holding that view has nothing to do with oppression, threats, violence or tyranny.

I think we should bring the draft back and put these sh*theads in uniform. And then, drop them into Afghanistan unarmed and bathed in pig fat with a peace flag. Let’s see how long they last..
