Point taken about fooling the clueless - including Obama and Hillary. I think they are woefully naive about the state of the world as their world-view is so skewed...
You are also right about Obama NOT being a true leader! Weak, naive, ineffectual, grossly arrogant... I could go on and on about that. It’s the reason we are in the position we are today. When I observed how he has acted - especially in global summits and in visit with other world leaders it’s clear to me that they consider him a joke... I said it back then, but I’ll repeat it now - the world’s leaders are laughing at him, and playing him for the fool he is. He may believe he is forging good relations, but everyone sees he is an emperor with no clothes, and our enemies are salivating at this opportunity to destroy our country — without a doubt.
Thank you for the compliments. I know there are others here at FR with way more experience in these matters, but I will offer an opinion. Take it for what it’s worth from a ‘layman’s’ point of view, and from someone who tries to stay educated but finds there is so much happening right now that it seems my head is spinning trying to keep up with it all.
Honestly, Turkey wasn’t even on my ‘radar screen’ until this aid ship left port. I was aware that we haven’t always had the best relationship with Turkey, but they were willing to help us in the war on terror. I have to wonder though whether they have been taken over by extremists - it would appear they have been, and the military has been compromised as those who are tasked with preventing the radical elements to dictate Turkey’s actions are instead seemingly helping with this nefarious plan re: Israel and Hamas/Gaza.
I truly don’t think Turkey is acting ‘alone’ in this. I am seeing things over the last say 6-8 years that indicate some sort of alliance between the Communist/Socialist regimes and the Muslim theocracies, and terror organizations. Therein lies the problem, I believe. As you mentioned with NATO status they have access to information and other valuable things. If they truly are working against the ‘West’ then I would say they are probably already sabotaging our interests albeit in a quiet way — perhaps providing intelligence to our enemies... Things of that nature.
I’m not sure how far Turkey is willing to go as far as pushing this confrontation with Israel, and who is promising support to them. However, given that their actions will NOT reflect favorably on them as far as attaining EU status I would say they’ve probably been ‘promised’ support by other Muslim states. They must see SOME advantage in taking these actions. What that is I don’t know.
Like I mentioned, there are so many things happening at once now that it’s hard to get a handle on any kind of understanding of Turkey’s intentions.
I pray for our soldiers in the country who would undoubtedly be targeted if this really ‘blows up’, and the peaceful Turkish people - that they will be able to take back their government as proscribed in their Constitution.
I do believe that if the US were to pressure Turkey over Israel they would waste no time in telling us to get out, or simply attacking our soldiers who are there. With Obama having ties to the group that organized the flotilla though I think we know which side our (so-called) leaders stand on this. I honestly think Obama is trying to play both sides, and with his arrogance it’s even more of a danger to us.
It’s so hard to draw alliance lines in this whole situation. When you add in the things happening in other parts of the world - like the Korea situation... Well, I don’t think it’s going to be long before we see MANY nations rise up against the voices of Freedom in our world.
Sorry this is so long, and it really is a lot of speculation. And, I’m no expert. I really, really hope I’m wrong in what I’m feeling about this, but everything screams ‘TRAP!’ to me at this point. Damned if we do anything, and definitely damned if we don’t... I PRAY I am wrong about the larger world powers who may indeed be behind ALL of this craziness. World powers who are using the Extremists desires to ‘take care of’ the ones who would stand in the way of THEIR control over the world (Communism never died). And the Radical hirabists (because this is an ‘illegal war’ not a jihad which gives these terrorists undue respect), are so blinded by their pure hatred that they don’t realize that as soon as these other nations are through with them they will not hesitate to wipe THEM out and subjugate them. They wail and cry about oppression now... Just wait until the Communists of the world take over.
I honestly believe that the Communist countries and organizaions throughout the world are our REAl enemies, and they are fighting a war by proxy using the radicalized Muslims and their own culture of hate against them. These ‘armies’ of radicalized Muslims who are willing to willingly die for the cause is a great ‘bonus’ to these countries (like Russia and China). The Muslims believe that this war will lead the THEM being able to establish a worldwide caliphate - as is their goal. There is no way on Earth that the Communist/Socialists would ever allow that.
PS - As you can probably tell I still consider Russia ultimately communist. Given Putin’s view on the fall of the Soviet Union, his career within the KGB, I don’t think there is a doubt that many in ‘Mother Russia’ have NOT given up the wish to become the world’s dominant power. Whereas their internal problems kept them relatively docile on the world stage during the Cold war, those problems are not there anymore... And, as we see here in the US the Communists plan of infiltration of our society has worked long after the Soviet Union ceased to exist. If you notice at ALL the demonstrations for “pro-Palestinian” causes the World workers’ party, and their various incarnations like ANSWER and such are ALWAYS present (their placards are easy to spot once you know what to look for).
Ok, well, sorry for the tremendously long post. There is so much I could say, but much of it is speculation and just trying to connect the dots, so to speak. No matter what, and as much as it pains me to say and know this I think we, the US, are in a LOT of trouble right now...
Do not forget about the Muslim behavior called Taqiyya. Lies and deceit abound among these people - it is considered “Holy” to lie for Allah as long as the ultimate goal is to fight against those who are NOT Muslims.
Pretending to convert — I would not put it past some of them. Granted there are many Muslims who Do convert - I’ve heard some amazing witness testimonies regarding their turning to Christ. However, we must keep in mind the penalty in Islam for conversion. It’s a very real possibility that he was asked to ‘prove’ his loyalty to Islam or face death of himself and or family members...
While I’m not completely naive, and I realize that Christians are capable of unspeakable sins, I honestly do think it more likely that this was NOT a crime perpetrated by a true Christian. Rather his ‘conversion’ was nothing more than a lie intended to get him access to commit this crime - or as I mentioned perhaps he was pressured by others who knew of his conversion and threatened him as an apostate of Islam.
If someone is murdered in this nation, do we not look for all possible motives?

Really, it's not that difficult -- just remember these two words: "free" and "republic." ;-)
Just ask yourself the questions: which side is working for individual freedoms, and which side supports constitutionally limited small-r republican government?
Those people are our friends, now and forever.
All the others are to some degree evil, and yes, we must often chose the lesser of evils (Stalin over Hitler comes to mind). But we must not delude ourselves into thinking the lesser evil can be our true friend.
The Left is always the side for bigger government, more controls, higher taxes, less individual freedoms. And whether they call themselves "International Communists," or "Global Warming Activists," or just "Progressives," it's always the same crowd with always the same answers -- more government control, more international government, less answerable government.
Islamic terrorists are nothing but the Muslim version of these people. Yes, the left can bring itself to fight terrorism -- in the same way Stalin fought Hitler, but neither were fighting for any notion of freedom, just the opposite -- they were both fighting for slavery, but to decide which was the slave, and which the master.
So despite Franklin Roosevelt's best efforts to win over "Uncle Joe" Stalin, their "friendship" could not outlive FDR.
Looked at this way, it's obvious we have few friendly countries, with many alliances of convenience. And given our own government's control by "Progressives," it's easy to wonder if Freedom stands any more chance for survival than it did when crushed between Hitler & Stalin.
But on the brighter side, we will always have many individual friends in the world -- even in countries like Turkey or Russia, which seem to be moving in some strange direction.
Our friends can be a small minority, but we can help make them more influential.
And under the right conditions, just as in America, people who love freedom can defeat in the ballot box those whose answers are always bigger government.
We must remember our friends, and support them as best we can.

We don’t know the motive. Something I read said that he was deranged or depressed.

Looks like he apostatized. Gut feelings seem correct in this one. He may also have had mental problems, but odds are that mental problems combined with Islam led to the result.
