Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) pushed Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) on Sunday to ignore federal rules and proceed with his desire to build berms to protect his state's coastline.
Palin told Jindal to "ask forgiveness later" for a plan to build a chain of artificial protective islands off the coast of Louisiana to help mitigate the ecological impact of the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill in Louisiana.
The federal government has yet to sign off on Jindal's plan, earning the enmity of the governor, a political favorite of conservatives and a potential future Republican candidate for president.

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Sometimes.
Sarah is decisive. Obama is frozen.
when will the governors realize they are on their own... the feds will not do anything to actually help.
just ask the folks in arizona, new mexico, california or texas...
Palin is absolutely right.
Once the construction of the barriers begins, the Feds would be forced to step in and help complete/fund them...
This is the difference between men of action and men of words...
Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it!
Obambi will look even MORE like an idiot when it works
Wrong, Mr. O'Brien. He is not eligible. His parents were not U.S. Citizens at the time of Jindal's birth.
President Palin would have moved on this weeks ago and Bobby would have everything he needed.
It would be like Mayor Nagin successfully evacuating New Orleans on all those school buses, only to find that President Bush was hauling him into court for using non-union bus drivers. It just wouldn't happen.
To us Obummer will look like a fool. Once complete, Obammy will take credit for the barrier islands and say they were his idea. The MSM will lovingly report how Obummers idea saved Louisiana, unlike George W. Bush who let NO drown. Sadly, many people will fall for it.
One might conclude, based on this article, that the only reason Obama is delaying approval is to damage a Republican politically and financially, to ensure he will lose his next election. Using the powers of his office, to do so.
Isn’t that ILLEGAL?
It's some kind of disease. We'll probably need to apologize to a lot of people after this guy is out of office.
Mac daddy is much to busy with golfing to be bothered with minor things like this.
He was born in Louisianna..
I think he has to act. Federal law is supreme but not when’s it’s incompetently exercised or non-action. States have the right ot protect their boundaries.
I’d love for Jindal to give the go ahead.
I would LOVE to see Jindal go ahead and build the barriers.
If people there actually think Obama cares about what happens to their shores and their livelihoods, they are deluding themselves. After all, this is the man who has presided over one of the largest job loss periods in our nation’s history.
Do it, Jindal. Do it.
America Slimmed Day 43!
Jindal should take two routes at the same time:
a)Threaten to immediately impound all BP assets in the state unless BP starts protection efforts today.
b) Start a State boycott of BP and suggest that the public do likewise.
BP and the Obama administration have caused what will ultimatly be recorded as the worst man made disasters in history. If this were Bush, they would be holding impeachment hearings.
I think we’ve all been saying this for days.
1. It’s the right thing to do.
2. The state has a legal right to do it.
3. If Obama objects, it will be extremely bad propaganda for him.
And, by the way, I like Bobby Jindal, but I do not support him for POTUS. He’s not conservative enough or decisive enough. And the real spoiler is that I don’t think he’s a natural born citizen. We just don’t need to go there again.
There are some good reasons to be skeptical of expanded barriers as a “quick fix”, and Jindal would be assuming a LOT of potential liability on behalf of the state’s taxpayers if this eventually backfired.
