McDonald's accused of selling old food

McDonald's restaurants in Sweden have been accused of re-dating old food that should have been thrown out, according to a report on Sveriges Television.

The "Dokument Inifrån" programme discovered the practice by keeping tabs on chicken salads at a McDonalds restaurant. The same salads were sold a day later with a new date stamp. The practice breaks McDonalds’ pledge to only sell fresh food.

"I won't use bad language, but this makes me really, really cross, because this is completely unacceptable," said Lotta Björk, personnel director for McDonald's Sweden.

"When our guests come to us, part of our purpose is to sell warm, tasty food speedily to our guests, and that’s what you should be able to expect as a guest."

The documentary, to be broadcast on Sunday, also shows that burgers are sometimes left on the hot plate longer than the permitted ten minutes.

Frida Berg, press spokeswoman for McDonalds, said she couldn't comment on the findings as she had not seen the programme.

"We naturally wish to address the criticism and we take it very seriously. But we need to wait until we know the basis for the criticism before we comment."

Every so often McRibs are resurrected. I know McD sells them here from time to time.

And I could mean “resurrected” literally. Who knows how old those “ribs” are? LOL

“Ah, you bring back happy memories of childhood when I used to buy bacalao frito from cart vendors in Puerto Rico. They were all over the place and for a small price you could get yourself a nice treat. I’m sure they were a bit aged but it never hurt me.”

- Wonderful story.

Puerto Rico you say. Did you enjoy tasty ceviches in your childhood too?

I didn’t discover Latin American food until my teens and I didn’t taste ceviche until I was around 38:) But, it’s never to late to get to know real food..

In any case, McDonald’s restaurants really deserve to be awarded more of Guide Michelin stars don’t you think?

the standing joke was calling them French flies. They were just scooped out and the fries were still used...don’t suppose with the heat of the oil there were any health consequences...but big uck!

There are actually Federal standards for the acceptable % of insect parts and feces allowed in food products for human consumption. Look it up!

For a long time, I had stock in McDs. Very profitable back then. As a broker once told me, the best investments are food and drugs because people have to eat and people get sick.

When I sold my stock, I got a tidy sum of money. At that time, McDonald’s restaurants here in the States were floundering, but the company was doing a booming business overseas. Don’t know if that’s still true now.

You are absolutely right. They run an air tight opperation. You never see one for sale. If they have a problem with a location which is rare they tear it down within a week. McDonalds locations are Never bought and sold on the open market.

I had some chicken nuggets the other day, bought around 2am. Seems to me they had been sitting around for many hours before they sold them to me. I could not even finish them and that is saying something when I could not finish them as I can eat almost anyhting.

“Say what you will about McDonalds, but they didn’t get to be the Rush Limbaugh of fast food by making poor business decisions.”

- You’re absolutely right.

McDonald’s is an extremely successful example of business know-how.

Critizing them because of the mistakes one or two franchise takers commit here and there is like accusing Volvo Cars of not producing the most beautiful vehicles on the market.

“Western Civilization is dying..”

- On what planet do you dwell?

Over here in Sweden, Muslim immigrant areas display lower birth rates than white middle class neighborhoods.

Explore Sweden at street level by this site if you care to, I don’t see a Muslim nightmare emerging on our soil:

You are as naive as the final sentence of your Freerepublic homepage

"Western Civilization of today disposes of all the means necessary to bring forth a new renaissance - and there's nothing to be afraid of.:"

Get back to me in 10 years.

And, Keep smiling,

Philip

Didn’t McDonald’s just close down in Iceland due to the high cost of importing their food?
