“it has to be Heinz”
Actually, whenever I wanted our homegrilled burgers & fries to taste like a trip to the local hamburger joint, Hunt’s and Del Monte filled the bill. The Heinz they served at the joints was somehow different from what came from the supermarket.
Anyway, it’s just more food nazi PC. May Heinz lo-salt ketchup suffer the same fate as New Coke!

We have never bought Heinz since the election Kerry ran in, anyway.
In our town was a lunch-type cafe that was Socialist-run. During the Kerry Farce, they had a proud little sign in the window, "We have Heinz Catsup".
Well, good.
We have never been there since. Anyone who wants to publicly mix politics with their business is too stupid to participate in either.

I stopped eating ketchup long ago because its just too sweet. As for salt - I’ve always been a salt-a-holic. So FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

“.good thing theres no salt in beer!!!”
My Grandfather used to sometimes put salt into his beer. Maybe it was when he thought it was going flat?

To you and me, yes. But to a liberal it means ‘doing something’ and that's all that required for them. I have opportunity at church to watch some liberals at work and it's always the same scenario. One of them has an idea, everyone jumps on the bandwagon, a deal is made of meeting and planning, a big announcement is made. . . And then the reality of doing vs. planning hits them. If they manage to get the project completed it always has problems. The are simply not detail people, at least not when it comes to doing. They right lots of details in their Vision statement and their Goals statement, but they ALWAYS leave out at least ONE critical detail.
You are oh so correct. The amount of sodium in ketchup is nil compared to what it's used on, so it makes no difference at all. BUT, in true liberal fashion they are DOING something. That's how they solve problems.

Well, I'm just going to add a little more salt FROM THE SALT SHAKER! The NSRI is a perfect example of a "good intention" used by the progressive right to expand "government control." What a shame.

I like your style...we stopped buying Heinz products as soon as tug boat annie became the spouse of kerry. That was difficult as my wife’s dad worked there. So far, I have boycotted Heinz and maple syrup from Vermont since that jackass Jeffords jumped ship. Not sure what to do about my home here in Florida with Crist becoming a quasi dummocrat now too.

Seriously - how much ketchup does one have to eat in a typical day for this to even matter?

Silly me. I thought manufacturers were in business to make products people WANT, not to guess about what you think they need. I'll buy what I want. It won't be Heinz.

We only get to vote every other November.
But we get to vote with our WALLETS every single day.
We can make sure that elections have consequences. Every day.

Sdly, no sarc tag there. It's an old story. Find and read the '70s SF short story "Lipid-leggin".

I am restricting sodium intake due to high blood pressure.
Me too.
One of my guilty pleasures, though, is McDonald's french fries. I lust after them. The only thing I wish they would change is the salt they put on them - sometimes I'll get a box where I swear they dumped a half a cup of salt on them.
It would be nice if they would just serve their fries without salt, and give you some of those little salt packets so you can just add the amount you want.

When you think about the primary foods on which people use ketchup—hamburgers and french fries, does Heinz really think that these eaters are clamoring for ketchup with less salt?
