Big Brother says elderly visitors to federally funded meals at a Georgia senior citizen's center aren't allowed to pray to that absurd, dangerous Christian God of theirs. Obama's Big Brother government contends that since it has paid for their meals the government has the right to slam its iron boot heel down on the necks of those seasoned citizens that dare to engage in such an apostasy toward the state.
Seem absurd? Well it is but that is what happens when the feds roll into town and begin to hand out money. They feel the right to dictate what everyone is allowed or not allowed to do and in the case of Port Wentworth's Ed Young Senior Citizens Center near Savannah that is to tell these old folks that they are not allowed to pray before a meal.
There are federal "guidelines" to observe, after all and the federal government's rules say none of that ridiculous Christian stuff will go on if the feds supply even a penny of funding. Old folks that want to pray are banned from doing so and if they don't like it, why they can go hungry because the new Uncle Sam is a crusader against religion.
Well, at least one religion, anyway.

I hope these socialist wackos get a huge conservative boot in their behinds come November.
Please provide a reference to the specific Federal document stipulating this requrement.
Having used public men’s rooms for sixty plus years, I’d say women need to carry cleaning supplies, also. There are alcohol wipes in sealed packets now ... just sayin’
She said she suffered from near fatal constipation until she hit upon the solution of wearing her roommate's shoes when she used the facilities.
She also tranferred out as soon as she could...:-)
They should say they are muslim and are offended at how the federal government is treating the prophet muhammad. No way they’d see the same response.
If those were the king’s rules it’d be one thing. In this case, it’s the king making rules exactly opposite the actual written rules and claiming they are one in the same.
Touche’!!!
Damn fine comment there sir!!!
Gives them all the excuse in the world to tell people what to do in their own homes now...
Among other reasons as well...
Who is enforcing this dictate and how? How obscene. I think my response to whatever bureaucrat handed me the food would be to stop and raise my hands to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and pray very loudly.
You know the government tried to oppress righteous Daniel too, and it didn’t work out so well...
They never learn, eh?
I like this part of the article:
“There are federal guidelines to observe, after all and the federal governments rules say none of that ridiculous Christian stuff will go on if the feds supply even a penny of funding. Old folks that want to pray are banned from doing so and if they dont like it, why they can go hungry because the new Uncle Sam is a crusader against religion.

You see, while Obamas federal government is ever ready to get tough with Georgias elderly and to put a stop to all that praying nonsense, it is also the same government that at federal expense is installing ritual footbaths in airports and universities to mollify Muslims. Not only that but the same federal government sees no reason to stop bombers from easily boarding planes so that they can make an escape to a foreign nation after a failed attempt to kill untold hundreds of Americans. But damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead to prevent those dangerous old folks in the middle of Georgia from daring to pray to that subversive Christian God!”
Wow, the federal juggernaut bigots!
thank you
They need to publicize the heck out of this — especially to all those seniors who voted for the lunatic in chief.
Is this intolerable?
I hear they can pray now because of the bad PR the place received but for Pete Sake what is happening to our country in such a short time. I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!

Ga. Seniors Told They Can’t Pray Before Meals
http://www.wsbtv.com/news/23495797/detail.html
“Tim Rutherford, Senior Citizens Inc. vice president, said some of his staff recently visited the center and noticed people praying shortly before lunch was served. Rutherford said his company provides meals like baked chicken, steak tips and rice and salads at a cost of about $6 a plate. Seniors taking the meals pay 55 cents and federal money foots the rest of the bill, Rutherford said.”
That is no excuse to forbid them to pray.
Just think, after Obamacare gets fully implemented, the government may well decide to “protect our health” by providing what we can eat, get our daily ration of health food, then, since we are getting it from the government, they can stamp out prayer — you want to eat, don’t pray.
“The thought of the elderly being prevented from their regular practice of group prayer before meals makes my blood boil.”
I hear Ya and I agree 100%. Some heads need to roll over this.
“............you want to eat, dont pray.”

The entire thing is preposterous since with-holding food is called starvation and that’s murder, so pray, you GA Seniors, then eat up. This is ludicrous.
I’m sorry to say this but my guess is this same Federal Government wouldn’t be able to get the money for prayer rugs there fast enough, if requested. It’s only Christianity and Judaism these “rules” apply to.
America is no longer a free country.
