A violent new film from cult director Robert Rodriguez is declaring war on Arizona with a "special Cinco De Mayo message" in the wake of the state's controversial illegal immigration law.
That message is: "They just f---ed with the wrong Mexican."
"Machete," which features a knife-wielding Mexican assassin out for revenge against double-crossing gringos, won't be in theaters until September, but it is already sparking a political melee over Wednesday's stab at the Grand Canyon State.
In the trailer for the film, the title character is hired to assassinate an anti-immigration U.S. senator played by Robert De Niro. Protesters are seen waving nationalist signs as the senator speaks to a charged-up rally: "We are at war," he booms. "Every time an illegal dances across our border, it is an act of aggression against this sovereign state — an overt act of terrorism."
But before the trailer even begins, the battle-scarred title character stares out from the screen as he tells viewers that what's about to unfold — an immigration-laced slasher grindhouse flick — is about the current border battle in Arizona.

It was, but enough people loved the trailer Rodriguez got funding to turn it into a whole movie. I’m looking forward to it, love Trejo, love grindhouse style, should be a lot of mindless fun.
Robert Rodriguez has been working on this film for years... Did no one else see Grindhouse?
Interesting timing for the release though. Life imitating art, etc. etc.

Maybe...but this really is yelling FIRE in a crowded theater...the coming storm is OK with me, what isn’t good, in my opinion, is that the law is so far gone now that we will have to fight it without any help at all...which is too bad...but, whatever...they sure picked the wrong gringos to f*** with.

Let legal immigration continue and reward those who do it legally and are eligible under its provisions.
Yesterday I overheard a conversation at work in which a typical democratic-voting Hispanic woman was explaining to a less educated Hispanic woman why she does not support the illegals. She is against bilingualism and all the other crap she has to go through for Mexicans who refuse to assimilate. I was frankly surprised to hear this from an Obama supporter.
No, we are the violent ones. Not Muslims and illegal aliens criminals.

Of course not. That blather is only trotted out to slander peaceful, law abiding opposition views. In this situation you always get the “You must understand the root causes of violence...” speech.

Sadly, that first part is something that gets forgotten in all of this. Legal Mexican immigrants who enter the U.S. in the same numbers as the citizens of other nations, are welcome here. And almost all of them are fine people.
Note, these are not the people in the street trashing our nation.
Nothing in life is free. And if you get something for nothing, then it’s value is nothing to you.
Those who wait and enter our nation legally, value their acceptance. Those that sneak across do not value our nation, and they have to develop a certain perception that this nation is vile, so that they can be the innocent one in the transaction.
“We didn’t cross the border. The border crossed us”? John Belushi made more sense in Animal House.
