Yid With Lid: He was giving the key note speech at a Washington Institute For Near East Policy and started it out with a "joke" that borders on anti-Semitic, teaching the crowd that Jews are just greedy merchants in the same vein as Shakespeare's Shylock...

Did you have to go running to my boss? Whats up with that? So many folks find it needful to ping Jim any time someone says something they don't like.
It's nice to see you are not immune from this schoolyard tattletale behavior.
It makes you appear more human! ;-)

"Service to country doesnt mean a free pass on lousy foreign policy...and speeches... Dont get me going on Joe Sestak...."
I never said that. I could give you a few examples of people who served in the military their whole lives who are/were idiots (Wesley Clarke, John Murtha). However, it is for concrete reasons that I can give you on these two. I'm ashamed to admit that John Murtha was a fellow Marine.
Can anyone here name me one statement or act that General Jones has done that is against this countries interests? Other than trying to read something into a stupid joke that was never intended? Don't you see the mental loops people on this thread are going through to try to rip on General Jones and by extension (in their minds at least) rip on Obama? In the process, they are casting aspersions on a good man. What is a man but the sum of his deeds? I merely pointed out the sum of his deeds to everyone, that's all.

LOL! Deobandis, to be more precise.
But close enough.
Any major doctrinaire differences you could cite as differences between the Talibs and the Wahabs?

Gotcha! And you said that well (my opinion) but the old adage, “Judge a person by the company they keep...” comes to mind and unfortunately in this incidence, the questionable company is that which Gen Jones chose to be in, not BHO...

Me too. But I did more than chuckle. I LMAO. The trouble with liberals is that they do not get humor. I hope that we never become like them.
BTW, I took the joke to be pro Jew, not anti Jew.

No gotcha. As I said previously. I think that General Jones is an honorable man who is concerned with this country. He was asked to serve as National Security advisor and being a patriotic American he said yes.
Let me ask you something. General Petraeus is currently serving as Commander of centcom for the Obama administration. Should he quit? General McChrystal was appointed by Obama to be the Commanding General in Afghanistan. Should he have turned it down? These two men would do these jobs no matter who is President because they are concerned with America’s National Security. They would not see a failure in Afghanistan as Obama’s failure, but as America’s failure. It is the same with General Jones...

I totally thought of Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny for this joke, and that would have worked. The trouble is, this joke in a sense commiserates with the hapless Taliban and reinforces their belief that Jews/Israelis deserve to be on the receiving end of their wrath. Oh, did I say Yosemite Sam? Of course I must have meant Antisemite Sam. ;-`

In the perilous time America & the world finds themselves, I can only look back at the events and public figures in the time leading up to WWII. Just remember the gloriously patriotic military record of France's General Petain or that Norway's Quisling was their Minister of Defense and then remember their ultimate infamy.
While no US military leader has, to this point, behaved in such a way to invite that comparison - Americans should NOT drop their guard and believe that they too can not be sold out to their enemies by men with gloriously patriotic military records or resumes.
But as for the joke of General Jones, along the same line let me ask the question this way:
What would you think of one of FDR's Generals, if during the 1930s, while giving a speech to an audience including Nazis, he told a joke about a Nazi wandering out of a desert who "arrives at a store run by a Jew and asks for water" and is not given water but is instead bounced back and forth between two Jewish businessman? Do you think the Nazis would merely consider those Jews humorously "clever?" Do you think many Muslims do not see Jews as Nazis did?

All the hubbub is is advised and represents the thin skin of many Jews and the political hay made in at best cloudy weather.
Most did not get the essence of the joke. It was about forgiveness. The wandering taliban was verbablly forgiven
The story is about forgiving your enemy.

The joke is funny. Its cute. We've heard them all of our lives... Harmless stereotypes that add to the cultural mosaic of America...Its just the teller of the joke who scares the heck out of decent people. He wasn't trying to be cute.

He works for Obama.
What else do you need?
Either he doesn’t know what he is doing, or if he knows, it’s ok by him.
Bad, no matter which one it is.
Against this country’s interest IN SPADES.
What he did in his military career before that, is his history and no one can change it.
But he crossed a horrible, horrible line. And what he’s doing now is a whole different thing.
