GEICO Fires Voice Over Guy For Insulting the Tea Party
Three Fingers of Politics ^ | April 21, 2010 | Stupac

PRWeb.com is reporting that voice over actor D.C. Douglas has been canned from GEICO for calling FreedomWorks and saying some very not nice things:

Los Angeles actor, D.C. Douglas, says he was dropped from the upcoming GEICO “Shocking News” campaign after a group of Tea Party members harassed him and the insurance giant over a private voicemail the actor left for FreedomWorks. Matt Kibbe, President and CEO of FreedomWorks, posted Mr. Douglas’ cell phone number in a blog post on biggovernment.com, instructing readers to “Feel free to contact (him)… call his employer too. Let them know that you…are now in the market for car insurance.” The next day, GEICO held auditions to replace Mr. Douglas’ voice on the campaign….

“I called as a private citizen to make a complaint,” explains Mr. Douglas. “Racism and homophobia are my Achilles heal, but unfortunately my message included inappropriate words and I am sorry for that. However, telling their members to harass my employer to get me fired is an egregiously disproportionate response to my actions.”

So this D.C. Douglas guy is upset that the TEA Party is racist and homophobic, yet he feels it OK to call FreedomWorks and ask “how many people that work there are mentally retarded?” He’s doing exactly what the Tea Party is supposedly doing, calling names. I went over to this fool’s website and I found this lovely graphic:

Scientists, even social scientists would be crossing the line by saying “normal.” Not that that’s not accurate. I was simply pointing out that the same people that gave us that term have already moved onto another term, the media is just behind! Because it suits their purpose. I’m off for a while, see ya later.

So it was okay for people to gin up a boycott, get GEICO customers to harass the biz, threaten to drop them if they continued to advertise on Glenn Beck's shows, lie about him and the things he says, but when Mr. Douglas himself lies about PRIVATE CITIZENS exercising their Amendment I rights and other citizens object, oh no, this is egregious.

Hypocrisy, it's the other fraud meat.

Nah. That’s Mike McGlone, character actor. He was in the indie films “The McMullen Brothers” and “She’s The One” directed by his friend Ed Burns.

I don’t recognize that quote. So he did 1 commercial for Geicko and he is billed as the voiceoverguy at Geicko? Is he even the guy that says, “15 minutes will save you 15% on your car insurance” or is that yet ANOTHER voiceover guy?

He looks like a gayer version of Steven Seagal. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

FTA: motivated by "the recent gay and racial slurs slung by Tea Party members at Congressman Barney Frank and Representative John Lewis during the Health Care Reform Weekend," and says he's "open to any attorneys taking on this case pro bono."

So he based his phone call on a fabrication, and now whats a free attorney? LOLOL....so easy, a caveman can do it, indeed...

Me too. He was a a lot of fun. That stupid “googly eye” commercial is a drag. But I certainly respect Geico that much more.

No worries, mate. CNN might find a spot for’im. Or Saturday Night Live. ‘E’ll be around to torure us, I’m sure.

Actually, I think it would be big of us to call for his forgiveness. I’d rather have him back on board with Geico, courtesy of us, than have him hate us that much more and make money for it. We could be his heroes, and if he’s an ingrate, then he’s more of a jerk than ever.

No one can deny that GEICO has some of the best (most memorable) ad campaigns ... very unusual for an insurance company. Progressive’s campaign with the perky gal is ok, but doesn’t approach either the gecko or cavemen.

GEICO was originally founded by a very conservative man; Progressive by a ... well, uber-Progressive, part of the Soros group that decided to fund O.

So I’m sticking with GEICO.

I looked on his IMDb page. It says he has a liberal mother and a conservative father. It also says he recently bought a home with his girlfriend. I was surprised by that last.

This was a shrewd move for him, as he went from “anonymous voiceover guy” to “DC Douglas.”

We have Erie Insurance too. We have been pleased with their response when I had a crash and when we both hit a deer. Our premium has not gone up. I wouldn’t buy from Progressive because of their name. Ha. Geico is higher.

Geico?!? He worked for Geico?!?

One would think he could have been much more comfortable at Progressive.
