Dick Morris: Bill Clinton Personally Orchestrated the 1993 Waco, Texas Tragedy
Canada Free Press ^ | Tuesday, April 20, 2010 | Fred Dardick

It looks like somebody is going to have to update the Waco Siege page on Wikipedia. Apparently the whitewashed history that former President Bill Clinton would like us to believe regarding the 1993 federal assault on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, is missing important details regarding his own personal involvement.

In response to Bill Clinton’s highly publicized linking of the Tea Party movement to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing in an op-ed piece for the New York Times, former Clinton adviser Dick Morris disclosed on Monday that it was Clinton himself, and not Attorney General Janet Reno, as Americans have been led to believe for the past 17 years, who called the shots during the 1993 botched invasion that led to the death of seventy-six people.

LOL....just jiving, I have seen so many rants , so many people need to vent just to stay sane.

I remember we were talking about some time ago how some of the private pilot licensing functions were now being controlled by government in ways that would prevent private, personal air fields.I don't know how that has played out, but at the time it seemed like over control and a blow to personal freedom. It seemed a rather planned radical change to FAA regulations.

"I also don’t see how it responds to gitmo or a range of islamic conciliatory gestures which are never challenged as church state wall breaches"

What does this even mean? Is English your first language?

"I don’t consent to your claims on thousands of executed warrants. "

Somehow, I'm not going to lose any sleep over that.

Getting a little testy are you...I never said Korash was a stand up guy, you posted NO evidence of DNA lets just all take your word for it...You are standing up for the government to use tanks against a group of religious believers, and also use the military against them....

Good Grief, your for the government to use its power to use such horrendous force against women and children but its OK cause someone lied to get a warrant....we all know that the government never lies..

It doesn't seem that the lame one on this thread are those that tell you something totally different from your hard held government is never wrong belief..

My daddy use to say never kick a dead horse, the horse doesn't care and you might hurt your foot...Your replies are one dead horse I quit kicking..Have fun holding up the government burning to death a lot of kids.

Its almost like you were one of those participating in the raid the way you try to justify it....sorry for you...

If you wish to actually educate yourself on this matter,

Thanks, I already have. I was trying to see if you knew.

If they had as much as they claim in the warrant, where was it all?

No doubt he had guns. Many guns. Where is the rest? Did it all 'blow up'? Or did Koresh plant it all on top of the concrete bunker the children were hiding in?

The illegal shotgun, your thinking Randy Weaver. IIRC a mailman tipped of the ATF to Koresh.

You are absolutely correct. I just finished rereading the details of the Warrant on Koresh, and figured that out. Someone else also made a post referring to Weaver's 'modifying' a gun.

Koresh was being accused of modifying semi-autos to complete auto fire. I got them mixed up.

The arrest warrant was based on federal firearms charges, but the search warrant was based - in part - on an affidavit from a UPS driver that attested he saw grenades in a box that he delivered to the compound.

That is what began the investigation in June of '92. It is not what the warrant was based on. It goes against everything ever published on the subject.

Just a question. Wasn’t the barrel Weaver cut off only 1/4 inch too short....He also won his law suit against the government...good for him...

The feds had arrest warrants for Koresh, and perhaps another Davidian. They also had a search warrant for the compound.

The search warrant was for Vernon Wayne Howell (aka David Koresh), AND OTHERS.(very specific, huh?)

You deserve credit for getting the basic facts correct.

The search warrant was to search for Koresh and arrest him, and anyone else necessary, and take all the guns, all the computers, all the children.

Thoughts on Waco: A Remembrance

Another area of shocking violation of civil liberties is that of the alleged attempt by BATF to serve a warrant. The BATF agents have never gotten their story straight on what type of warrant they obtained. Was it a search or arrest warrant? The way this warrant was issued is highly irregular and deserves a special investigation in itself. Ken Maynard, FBI special agent (Ret.) has analyzed BATF agent Davy Aguilera's probable cause affidavit, and says this: “There was not even one fact in the probable cause affidavit by the BATF stating that a violation had or was taking place at Mt. Carmel. There was insufficient evidence to issue a warrant.” Why did BATF agents refuse Koresh's offer for them to come on out and look around? Henry McMahon, owner of Hewitt Arms, confirms this. BATF agents were in his store at the time of the offer.

In the interest of factual information, on both sides of the argument, here is the actual warrant:

The risk of fire is outweighed by the tactical advantages of the gas, and ultimately it's safer for everyone.

Safer for those not inside the building, anyway.

This standoff went on for 8 weeks. How long should law enforcement have to wait?

How much food and water did they have left? How much longer could the Davidians have held out?

I think we agree on this. It was a situation that ended up getting way out of hand, early, and ended badly.
