No link yet, only from live broadcast:

In a press release just handed to Fox by the FBI, the six Michigan residents, two from Ohio, one from Indiana are charged with “seditious conspiracy.”

Reportedly, Hutaree is accused of attempted use of weapons of mass destruction. Charges range from August 2008 to today.

The militia group Hutaree are said to have conspired to oppose by force the authority of the US Government.

The members viewed local, state and federal law enforcement as "the brotherhood," also known as their enemy, and have been preparing, the FBI says, to engage them in armed conflict.

According to one plan released by the FBI, the group was to kill a law enforcement officer, then during the funeral precession, hit again with IEDs to kill more LEOs.

Probably because they haven’t found sufficient evidence that those Muslim groups are conspiring to do so through force.

If they did have such evidence, I doubt there’s a U.S. Attorney in America who would look the other way. That’s the sort of prosecution that can make a career.

However, if they were targeting the police and there is proof of such, they belong in jail.

As far as I know, the First Amendment still prevails. You can talk all day long about "targeting" anyone. The law kicks in when you actually do it. This is why it's so hard, in most juridictions, to do anything much about a stalker.

Clinton & Reno brought the American people Ruby Ridge & Waco to provoke an Oklahoma City, while Muslim terrorism built up to 9/11. But those 2 would always prefer fighting white Christian Americans than America's real enemies.

Obama & Holder is pulling out the same script. Let's hope they don't succeed in igniting the right to provide a similar diversion.

this so typical

during Clinton’s excesses we were awash in right wing militias of whom for the record I was never a member...though admittedly McVeigh’s militia of two did make an impact...a nasty one

during Bush II ..not a peep...nothing ...just murdering Islamists

now with Obama looking to socialize America all we have heard about are right wing militias even before when none existed

standard playbook

and some here handwring over it like CNN

if it ever comes to true rebellious strife here...one does wonder what form it will take

Maybe if these indicted militia guys play their charge cards right, they can get a job teaching at an American university, write books openly about the overthrow of capitalism and the violent communist overthrow of our government. And to top it off, they can pal around with a President one day and visit the WH as an honored guest.../sarcasm

-- As far as I know, there are no sedition laws in this country. --

There's no "sedition" in 1st amendment expression.

The Sedition Act (officially An Act for the Punishment of Certain Crimes against the United States; ch. 74, 1 Stat. 596) made it a crime to publish "false, scandalous, and malicious writing" against the government or its officials.

According to the indictment, on 2-6-10 the defendants attempted to go to Kentucky in furtherance of their conspiracy, but “weather conditions prevented them” from going.

Real cracker-jack prosecution there.

“Oppose by force the authority of the government...”?

This is the most obscure thing I’ve ever heard. What “authority” are they accused of opposing?

See cboldt’s link to indictment

It seems to me that the way "weapons of mass destruction" is being defined here, any weapon capable of killing more than one person at a time would be considered a "weapon of mass destruction" by this Justice Department. I'm pretty darn sure that when Bush went into Iraq, that Iraq had literally millions of "weapons of mass destruction" that we not only found, but confiscated and destroyed.

The indictment does not indicate how they came to the conclusion that this group was engaged in actual seditious activity and the allegations are vague to say the least. There is no actual description of the weapons that were supposedly in their possession that were illegal, nor is there any specific indication that they had actually done any specific act in furtherance of any specific intent conspiracy.

This is going to be interesting.

Exactly, and if this was a Muslim group, everyone on FreeRepublic would be cheering these arrests.

Obama ain't about to arrest any Muslim.  He's gone out of his way to bow down to any Muslim creep he finds.

“As far as I know, the First Amendment still prevails. You can talk all day long about “targeting” anyone. The law kicks in when you actually do it.”

Not sure about that. People can be arrested for conspiracy to commit crime. Think of all of the past arrests when people have attempted to hire a hit man, etc. and it turned out that the ‘hit man’ was an undercover police officer. Those people still get arrested, yet the actual ‘hit’ never took place.

Ruby Ridge was a Bush operation, not Clinton.

It's like "obscenity" laws. "I know it when I see it..."

In any sane legal system, it has no place.

A real crime involves 3 distinct things.

  1. A Perp
  2. A Victim
  3. Actual Damage Done
Anything else is setting up a system whereby you can be jailed for hurting yourself, mopary, or where the only "victim" is a piece of paper with words written on it.

Obama hasn't followed the Constitution or the laws, why start now?

Like that dirtbag Clinton when he was in office, Obama thinks he's above the law.
