"Exactly, and if this was a Muslim group, everyone on FreeRepublic would be cheering these arrests. "

Have you seen this monstrous militia group? They look like some skinny kids playing dress up for attention. I bet they would pee their pants if anyone believed they had a "plan" to do any kind of real damage.

Yea...black helicopters, swat teams and part of the military to go after these dorks...What a hoot. Their grandmother could probably turn them in. LOL.

Just heard on Rodger Hedgecock’s radio show that the leader in this group was an FBI plant. How about the FBI spending there time on the real threat to this country, Latino gangs and the drug cartels!!!!

This thread is getting ridiculous. These are not people we should be defending. By all accounts these were violent extremists.

Please stop automatically defending someone just because they got arrested when Obama is president.

"So, anybody who disagrees with the government is to be charged with sedition?" No, but if you're planning acts of armed terrorism that surely counts.

"They have the right to armed revolt." Are you defending the Hutaree? Saying that they have a right to armed revolt against the government of the United States? I hope that I misunderstood your comment and that your answer will be "no" to both.

I am talking about the fact that many commenters are defending this Hutaree terrorist group.

Anyone who is planning violence against the United States government should and must be investigated.

"They look like some skinny kids playing dress up for attention." I'm so glad you have magical abilities to discern intent by looking at photos. The evidence so far is that the Hutaree are terrorists who richly deserved to be arrested.

MattAMiller wrote "The authorities have a duty to arrest people who are making plans like this. That’s the end of the story there. There’s no reason on Earth to think this is the first step in some sort of coup." You are exactly correct. From everything I have read, the FBI did it's duty by arresting this bunch of nuts. When it gets to trial we'll see all of the evidence, but they clearly had cause for arrest. When a group threatens to kill police officers, as the news stories (on Fox, which I'm sure everyone here trusts), then the police cannot sit idly by.
