Obama Excludes Private and Catholic School Children From Easter Egg Roll Ticket Giveaway

The Obama administration announced on Tuesday it has reserved 3,000 free tickets to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll for students in D.C.-area public and charter schools, but not for children who attend private or parochial schools.

Why exclude children in private and parochial schools, asked the father of a parochial school student at Tuesday’s press conference where U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan and District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty announced the ticket giveaway.

“These tickets are from the White House to public schools, and we’re appreciative, but there may be other things unrelated to this press conference,” Fenty responded. “That’s a great question.”

Well if I had children, this Catholic would not set foot on the WH ground for an Easter Egg Hunt.

I prefer Billy Tyler spending Easter with loved ones who do not view his birth as a punishment.

They do; however, when it comes to tests that liberals can skew, such as the tests required for admission to the so-called "gifted and talented" programs of the NYC public schools, they don't do as well as they could because they are put into intentionally selected adverse testing conditions compared to the conditions into which children who already attend public schools are placed.

I love your comment although I do not think any families of public school students in DC pay taxes. So the kids whose parents are footing the bill are expressly excluded. Welcome to our new reality.

Private individuals should take the kiddies to the Washington Monument grounds and have their own “Freedom Egg Roll”. It would be great if 10’s of thousands showed up to the real egg roll. Also, don’t invite the nobamas.

My mother teaches at a Catholic School, I would say better then 90% of the parents at her school voted Democrat, and have for years. Makes no sense to me either.
