Dan Rather: 'Articulate' Obama Couldn't Even 'Sell Watermelons' By Geoffrey Dickens Created 03/08/2010 - 14:41

HDNet's Dan Rather stepped on one mine after another in the racial minefield that exists when talking about the nation's first black President as the former CBS anchor, on the syndicated Chris Matthews Show on March 8th, uttered the following take on the President's ability to get health care passed and how the GOP and independents would view it.

DAN RATHER: Part of the undertow in the coming election is going to be President Obama's leadership. And the Republicans will make a case and a lot of independents will buy this argument. "Listen he just hasn't been, look at the health care bill. It was his number one priority. It took him forever to get it through and he had to compromise it to death." And a version of, "Listen he's a nice person, he's very articulate" this is what's been used against him, "but he couldn't sell watermelons if it, you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic."

I think Rather’s remark was innocent enough, actually pretty funny if Matthews would have let him finish his sentence.

Chris is allergic to putting the word watermelon and blacks together in any context. But why? It’s okay to mention Italians and spaghetti or Jews and bagels, but not blacks and fried chicken and watermelon?

Chrissy couldn’t shut up Blather fast enough. Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Oh, wait...that’s racist if I think it. But if Dan say’s it, why that is quite alright.

Dems/Libs are the biggest racists out there.

To them they're not racist, they think EVERYBODY is inferior to them. And they hate having this belief uncovered.

Like most human traits, racism can be traced to its advantage during tribal warfare. Tribes without racism have gotten killed off. A tribe that can turn it on for war and off off for peace has an even larger advantage. Because it is a natural trait that has served us well for hundreds of thousands of years, it probably shouldn't be the modern cultural taboo that it has become. We will need it again some day.

He came very close to selling Alinskyite socialism to a majority of voters
who elected him. They were fooled.

Hell, Fried Chicken sells itself.

Well I have heard of Kentucky Fried Chicken, but never Hell Fried Chicken. Is that the one with Satan's 666 special spices. So tempting it's sinful.

"If you read it carefully, it is what Rather claims the Repubs will say about Obama during the elections, not what Rather himself thinks. This is not Rather saying that Obama couldn’t sell watermelons."

Rather chose the wording, not the Republicans.

Admittedly, I read only the excerpt here, but I don’t read this as Rather “turning” on ObaMAO; he is just pretending to quote critics of the Dear Leader.

Nonsense.

It is most definitely what Rather thinks...he THOUGHT it, then SAID it.

It seems to me that it’s worse for Rather to claim that it’s what Repubs will say, yet few are mentioning that...

People are off and running at the word watermelon...

They should be off and running at the disgusting claim Rather is making about Repubs...
