I am trying to log into my ebay account, and I am being asked for all sorts of personal information, to include an ATM PIN.
I am going to the correct URL [the browser shows it as living at "ebay.com"], so this isn't "phishing".
Ergo one of the following must be true:
1) Either Ebay has been hacked, or
2) I have a very sophisticated virus on my machine which is capable of altering my TCP/IP stack and redirecting my DNS lookups.

Click the help link at top right of page and you can get to a contact page. I’d call ebay if I were you.

eBay would use your real name in correspondence, no?
To: tutstar
I wouldn’t click a thing on that page. Ebay does NOT ask for this kind of information.

I’m no computer expert, but I think it’s completely fraudulent. I buy and sell on ebay all the time, and they haven’t axed me for any such info.
Also, I notice there is an “s” after http in the url. That isn’t normal is it?

Your computer has been hijacked by one of the more sophisticated virii out there.
Basically it hijacks any DNS request for specific sites (eBay, Amazon, etc) and transparently redirects it to a site of their own choosing. This is done (among other methods) by rewriting your hosts file so that the computer will never be able to see the difference in a manner that you can visible tell (i.e., the URL field isn’t even different).

It very will could be phishing. Check out the links on the page—ALL OF THEM! to confirm that they actually go to valid links.

Don’t fool with Ebay...just answer the request from the guy in Mumbasa who wants to transfer ten million (US) to your account...send him the routing and account numbers, keep the ten Million (US) and retire....

Do not respond to the requests. Call eBay customer service immediately.

By the way, one tipoff is that you’re not going to the UK or Hong Kong eBay variants, yet they spelled “authorized” in the British fashion with an S instead of a Z.
