Yakima kindergartner expelled for making a gun with hands

YAKIMA, Wash.- Manuel Alvarez eats breakfast and gets ready for school. He's eager but nervous. He was expelled Monday from Barge Lincoln Elementary for making a gun with his hands. His mom says it's a hand gesture that could have easily been corrected.

"He didn't know did they talk to him about it what actions were taken to tell him this isn't allowed," Lorena Hurtado, Manuel's mother.

Manuel has a clean record never in trouble before his mother says a warning would have worked or even a parent-teacher meeting. Instead, His mom says, Manuel's afraid.

"I got a call from the School saying he's not raising his hand or speaking up. He's scared after we talked about not doing any gestures, he probably doesn't want to to do it because that could be a gesture. It might get him pulled out for two days," said Hurtado.

Manuel's mom doesn't see anything wrong with her son putting his hands like this and shooting down at the ground. She doesn't think it poses an immediate threat to the school or Manuel's classmates. We took the issue to School District employees and asked them about their policy.

"When students are at school they should be concerned about learning….safety shouldn't be a concern at school, we have a zero tolerance policy," said Dr. John Irion, from the Yakima School District.

Hurtado understands the policy, but in this case doesn't think the punishment fits the crime, especially when the student in question is in kindergarten.

"A five-year-old shouldn't be held to the same policy as a 12th grader...he is in kindergarten," said Hurtado.

Lorena Hurtado is appealing the expulsion and wants to try to clear her son's record. She says she doesn't want her five-year-old to be labeled as a troublemaker.

That sort of thing in an environment like that would scare the bejesus out of me, and should be taken VERY seriously.

If a kindergardener "scares the bejesus" out of you, then there's no hope for you and you should stay hidden under your bed all day surrounded by your ammo and canned goods and not interact with the rest of us sane people.

While I think this is extreme, the Yakima Valley is being taken over by gang activity.

I can think of a more effective solution to this problem.

The schools today are run by silly women who hate guns and they are crazy about this sort of thing ....

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Think: Nurse Ratched in “One Flew Over the Cocoo’s Nest”.

The schools are run by feminazi “Teacher Ratcheds” who hate men and whose purpose every day is to mentally castrate little boys and turn little girls into men hating Ratcheds, as well.

Any parent who would send their little boy or girl into a government school is really taking a chance with their child's life. Find some other way to educate your child.

Oh...And..I personally believe that it would be better for a child to be completely illiterate and innumerate than to ever send a child into the government schools. (Yes, I **seriously** mean it.)

Having grown up in Catholic schools, this kid would not have been expelled in any of the school I attended. Ditto for the Catholic school my kids have attended for the last few years.

My children are homeschooled, but they are around public schoolers in sports, scouts, etc. The youngest is in a pack that meets at a school. With the zero tolerance policy, the leader is strictly limited on what the boys can do. For example, she can't show them about pocketknives, etc.

Well, after each meeting, while the parents talk, the boys have been playing together freely. I noticed they pretend they're fighting a war or they're spies. Lots of pretend violence.

Two weeks ago, two other leaders confronted our leader about it. I guess one boy took things too far in his pretend play, and they took our leader to task for letting the boys play that way at all. Having read all these articles on FR, I could see where an outright ban on pretend violence would lead eventually: It would reach the point where a boy would be in trouble for making a gun with his fingers.

The better option would be to guide them in their play. As long as it's good guys vs. bad guys, it's harmless play. It can even be helpful. If it's Grand Theft Auto type of play, then there's a problem because there's no right vs. wrong there - only violence for fun. With my own sons, as long as there's a clearcut line between good and evil in their play, it's fine with me.

This sentence implies that our socialist-model, single-payer, government schools were not broken 40 years ago, or that if we could return to some nebulous time in the past that the government schools could be fixed.

I didn't expect a reply such as yours so let me clarify my post. I'm almost 53 years old and my post reflects the time period I have been personally observing this. Why did I start seeing all of this? My father was a Russian immigrant, born in 1907 and raised under the Czar. He saw the revolution first hand and immigrated within two weeks of the communist takeover. He didn't come over steerage class either! First class with his family. When I came along he was always careful to show me the seeds he saw in our society of a burgeoning move towards socialism/communism. That's why I got my first NRA membership at about age 2. Pop never forgot that the first liberty lost to the commies was gun ownership followed by lots and lots of lives, including some of his own family.

I recognize that the educational system of this nation at all levels is irretrievably broken and it will never be "fixed." All I can do is to hang on as long as I can and keep looking UP. RAPTURE READY? Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.

My son, almost 3, loves playing guns. I foresee issues with him in his upcoming school career. Exactly because of school stupidity like this.

I'm sure everything will be fine if you just go give a gentle talking-to to the school officials, DC.

What does this reporter have against punctuation?

I just went to the website to check: No punctuation there, either.

What if he was a twelfth grader? Either press charges for assault or skip it.

This nonsense has to be done away with.

It’s almost Soviet. Really the GOP needs to wake up and start pushing back on this nonsense...

This nonsense is not incidental...it's the program. This is the point.

I've been saying for years that public schools cannot be saved. This is reason #1,638 why.

if we could return to some nebulous time in the past that the government schools could be fixed.

If we had a "WAY-BACK" machine and really could go back in time there would be a time when they worked, indeed. The first public schools came into existence for one reason and one reason only: To prepare young men to enter the seminary. I would submit that during those times (late 1700's to mid 1800's) the system worked as envisioned. Where did we go wrong? Hard to pin point that but I'd guess with the creation of the Federal Reserve and the later silent insurrection mounted by a stealth attack on the Constitution by the Counsel on Foreign Relations with the object of pushing the NWO. Both of those events were IMHO, Satanically orchestrated and as such, pretty much unstoppable by man. This is all part of God's plan and so I think that if we truly put our trust there, we just sit back and watch the scenery fly by. It's gonna be one heckuva ride!

There might be some truth to what you are saying about children around the world.

However, stating it on this thread means you have no more sense than those who hide behind the "no tolerance" policy.

Pull your head out of your arse.

“The first public schools came into existence for one reason and one reason only: To prepare young men to enter the seminary. I would submit that during those times (late 1700’s to mid 1800’s) the system worked as envisioned. Where did we go wrong?”

NOPE!

http://nj.npri.org/nj98/05/prussian.htm

“Another development added to the growing furor and revolution in American education. In the early 1800’s, what is commonly known as the Ph.D. did not exist in the United States. Then a well connected American named Edward Everett went to Germany to take courses and returned to this country as the first American to receive a Ph.D. degree. Eventually, 10,000 of America’s wealthiest families would send their sons to obtain the Ph.D. in Prussian universities. Ultimately, this development would affect the educational and intellectual make up of the entire education system from kindergarten through college. These German trained Ph.D.’s took over the educational establishment in the United States and anchored themselves in positions of political and economic power and influence. The substance of the course work in Prussian universities in tandem with the educational philosophy tended to be socialist and collectivist in nature. Consequently, the knowledge and mind set of the Prussian system were passed on to several generations of American intellectuals.

“Implementation of the Prussian System Implementation of the Prussian system was to become the goal of Edward Everett, America’s first Ph.D. As Governor of Massachusetts, Everett had to deal with the problem of the influx of poor Irish Catholics into his state. In 1852, with the support of Horace Mann, another strong advocate of the Prussian model, Everett made the decision to adopt the Prussian system of education in Massachusetts. Unfortunately for the children and poor Irish Catholics of Massachusetts and elsewhere, the system produced a willing, cheap labor force with minimal reading and numbers skills. The Everetts of the world understood that people who could read and understand are dangerous because they are intellectually equipped to find out things for themselves, thus becoming a threat to already established power elites.

“Shortly after Everett and Mann collaborated to adopt the Prussian system, the Governor of New York set up the same method in 12 different New York schools on a trial basis. Incredibly, within two weeks he declared the system a total success and took control of the entire education system in the State of New York. In a “blitzkreig” action with no debate, public hearing, or citizen involvement, government forced schooling was on its way in America.”

http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/chapters/index.htm

more:

” Education is a social-engineering method of implementing control, based on “principles” derived from sociology and psychology. The educational system that dominates America, and virtually all the West had its origins in Prussia, the brain-child of the collectivist philosopher, Johann Gottlieb Fichte, who said, “The schools must fashion the person, and fashion him in such a way that he simply cannot will otherwise than what you wish him to will.”

“In the 1800’s there were no Phd programs in America and more than 10,000 of America’s wealthiest families sent their sons to Prussian universities to obtain a Phd There they learned the Prussian education system. America’s first Phd was Edward Everett, who, as Governor of Massachusetts, together with another Phd, Horace Mann, who is considered the father of American education, established the Prussian system of education in 1852 in Massachusetts. Under the influence of these men, the Prussian system was set up in New York shortly after, and subsequently throughout the entire country.”

Government schools have always only had one purpose, the control of the minds of the citizens.

"A five-year-old shouldn't be held to the same policy as a 12th grader...he is in kindergarten," said Hurtado.

Hell no. A 12th grader in this loony district probably gets charged with aggravated assault for pointing his finger. Idiots all.
