You'll also notice the (once again) packed straw poll at CPAC, and a sudden surge in Freepers attacking Sarah Palin at every turn.

It seems the push is already at full force. Mitt Romney is the guy to beat, like it or not (remember that McCain enjoyed -5% support at FR during the campaign), and the GOP is circling the wagons early this time.

Add to that several weekend columns out-of-nowhere attacking Sarah Palin again (George Will, Dorothy Rabinowitz, Kathleen Parker, et al).

let there be no doubt, the organized effort is afoot.

I guess the only question is: what Romney backer will run to split the Conservative vote from Palin in the hopes of getting a VP nod? DeMint? Santorum?

Unfortunately, as we are seeing quite clearly, he is the odds-on guy. The full-court press has begun in earnest, as you can see from the litany of strategically-timed articles and astroturfing.

Two makes for a coincidence. Thirty is a coordinated assault. They want Romney, they do NOT want Sarah, and they are going to pull out all of the stops in every way possible to make sure Mitt Romney is the nominee in 2012.

Why do you say that? Just because 50% of the speakers were Moderates (”RINOs”), and they hosted a whole menu of fancy new “Conservative” groups (like GOProud, among others)?

Yeah, CPAC has become RPAC. The GOP infiltrated very effectively to neutralize this once-effective group.

As far as I'm concerned, if the republicans select Romney as their candidate they are really selecting Obama as their candidate. And they will have proved they have learned nothing and I'll join what is likely to be a very loud call for the Tea Party to become a full fledged party...and it will eventually replace the republican party...unfortunately the republican party will doom the nation to years more of disaster.
