Forget a third party.

We need a SECOND one.

I’m guessing that independents will take their anger out on the establishment candidate.

This kind of thing would be very important in getting rid of the RINO infection that is a plague on the Republican Party. Here in Illinois we are plagued by RINOs because the libs cross over and vote in the GOP primary. We got a decent governor candidate this time because the Dem primary was closely contested so there wasn't as much cross over. Unfortunately our Senate candidate makes the term RINO seem inadequate.

I think this is a great move. If you don’t want to join the Party, then don’t think you get to help make decisions for the Party. Simple common sense, people. I don’t get to help the Elks or the Masons decide who their officers will be.

This has to happen all across the country, if conservatives are to wrench control of the Republican Party away from the RINOs.

This would clearly help Hayworth and hurt McCain. Sounds like it is up to the state officials or courts to make the decision as to whether the change can be made.

In general, I think it is NUTS for either party to allow non-members to vote in primaries. I guess there MIGHT be something to the idea that allowing independents to vote in them, helps you in the general election, but I don’t think that justifies it.

Leaving it up to the parties to decide is one thing but certainly no state should ever require open primaries.

This is just one of those "well, duh!" moments. Right now they are disenfranchising the real Republican voters in their own primary by letting phony independents and minor parties cast votes in it.

If the independents and other parties want to stay on the fringe then they can just wait and vote in November or have their own primary. These open primaries are one reason why the Republican party was taken over by RINO's in the first place.

The Tea Party poll is still active!

http://taxdayteaparty.com/2010/02/poll-would-you-support-jd-hayworth-against-john-mccain/

POLL: Would you support JD Hayworth against John McCain?

Absolutely! Hayworth is great and McCain needs to go. 78% (1,871 votes)
Perhaps, but I would rather support someone else against McCain 9% (206 votes)
Not at all. John McCain should be left alone 10% (249 votes)
Third party is the way to go 3% (76 votes)
Total Votes: 2,402

It just shows how rotted away the Republican party is, when you realize they allow Democrats and Independents help select their candidates in some states.

When Ronald Reagan said he didn’t leave the Democrat party, it left him, I doubt he could have made it more clear how I feel about the Republican party.

Hell, it doesn’t even care enough about it’s core principles to demand all franchisees support it’s platform.

John McCain, a man that is constantly on the make, doesn’t go out hawking Conservative policy. He’s out there with Ted Kennedy, Russel Feingold, John F. Kerry, and others pushing leftist ideology. So in response the Republican party generally supports him. Why? Why in hell would you support someone who works for the Democrat party more often than not?

Ole Mud n Guts has at one time or another hawked, global warming, the LOST Treaty, the Internation Criminal Court, gun control, a political leftist proponent of abortion, immigration reform that would see 20 to 35 million illegals made citizens, cutting the F22 program, cutting one of our missile defense R&D efforts... and on and on it goes, over 26 years of it in Congress and the Senate.

This dried up old prune needs to go home. Sorry folks, I’m no spring chicken myself, but I haven’t been slapping my host in the face for the last 22 years, still expecting them to support me on election day.

John has raped our party repeatedly. And just because he has opened the door for one of us, that person should not feel obligated to support this son of a bitch one iota.

F U John McCain. F U for betraying our cause. F U for turning our brightest shining stars into people who know no better than to support your ilk.

Even Scott Brown has already been turned to the dark side by the Empire’s own Senator Palpatine, to support him against a better man.

John MeCain is evil personified.

A closed primary — you bet it would impact McCainiac’s primary. Crossover votes are his secret weapon.

“Some are concerned because they’re afraid of disenfranchising independents”

What rot. They have the general election. Republican primaries are for Republicans. At least make liberal interlopers go to the trouble of actually registering as a Republican.

As I've said many times, closed primaries won't work!

Liberals just switch parties to vote for McCain in the primaries and vote for the democrat in November.

Remember Operation Chaos? The Democrats can do that, too.

.And they will do it.
