8:00AM : Heading for the Tea Party in Nashville.
Leaving this morning with the wife for the Opryland Hotel event, we hope it is worth the money we put out. My wife and I are committed to the Tea Party movement having attended events all over Southwest Ohio and the national event in Washington, DC on 9-12.
2:00 PM : Checked in to the convention and the place is hopping with every cable network sending live feeds. Theyre interviewing everything and anything that can walk or talk. My wife and I were interviewed by somebody named Mary from CNN. (told her we were holding out for Fox) I was supposed to be on with them at 6:30PM live, but when I came back they had scrubbed the interview. I think they are hunting around for nut cases to parade out to the nation.
First impression, after looking things over and talking to the crowd assembling it reminded me of the same crowd that we found in DC on 9-12. People from all over the country and everyone as friendly as you can get. So far so good.
Well be heading to the cocktail party in an hour to hear Tom Tancredo.

Watching Greta who is interviewing Glen Beck re:
Tea Party movement.
Glen seems to “get it”.
Greta not so much.
I imagine Sarah will get a lot of local attendance that did not go to the convention.
Media is extremely critical of this political movement.
I wish they looked at MoveOn, ANSWER, SEIU and Acorn like this
I do think the organizer running this like a business endeavor for personal profit gives me pause but I am there to see Sarah
I hope she got paid a lot...she is worth more than what Gore and Toon get.
Glenn had Greta foaming at the mouth over the identity of the liberal he is working with...
It is true that Sarah is receiving a speaking fee. There was an attempt to tarnish the National Convention in Nashville when it was in the news about Sarah accepting a fee and Michelle Bachmann backing out of the convention. Michelle Bachmann backed out due to problems with the “House Rules”, but she supports the effort of the convention. Sarah is donating the amount she receives to charity. There was also talk about how the convention was too costly for “Tea Party Folks”. Well, the convention is sold out. I also know that with the convention team booking the Gaylord Hotel for three days with planned workshops daily, meals included along with great speakers,
the ticket costs were not way out of line.
Seems the media can't find enough to complain about. Must be the “Tea Party Movement” has they very worried! I am smiling, just thinking about that!! :)
Amen, Amen, Amenm- wardaddy.
By the way, do you or anyone else have specific detailed directions on where exactly to go - what door to go in which way to turn, etc - to find the place to register for the dinner (already paid for but understand we have to sign in).
Reason for asking is that I have not been to the hotel yet where the events are happening and I understand one can get totally lost inside there....
Don’t want to be wandering around lost while Sarah is speaking.,,,,LOL
Thanks! Seekthetruth and I will be meeting up. Maybe we can do the same with you and other FReepers if desired.
But know the focus is Sarah so we’ll see how that all works out re: meeting up.
LOL yes, he did!
“Must be the Tea Party Movement has they very worried! I am smiling, just thinking about that!! :) “
Me too!
Look at you...fishing for compliments! lol
Yer a very handsome fella, who is blessed with a beautiful wife and family...deservedly so, I might add.
If anyone doubts me, check wardaddy’s home page.
BTW, “Tell Sarah I Love Her”. ;o)
I have no idea...my wife handled it all. Printed tickets.
I hope they have signs...the Hotel is gargantuan...once the world’s largest before Vegas took off as a family destination.
I think we plan to be there by 6ish. Dinner is at 7 and Palin speaks at 8.
My daddy used to like to go there for Sunday buffet back in the late 70s. I think the last time I went was in 97 or so to see the Christmas lights which are something...
Their banquet halls are huge. I think they have 700 at the convention. I would expect that to increase demonstrably for her speaking dinner.
I wish this were a meet and greet...would love to have my wife’s pic with her.
But it’s priced way too low for a meet type from what my mom used to tell me about the Reagan-Bush days.
Yes my friend that I am visiting with lives here in Nashville and knows the hotel well except she hasn’t been there in a few years and there has been another expansion since she did come to it...but one way or another I’ll find my way to the banquet registration table. We have to register for the banquet even though we already have our tickets, I found out.
yep..us too...i hear wifey’s clicketyclack heels upstairs from my man cave...she must be in change clothes 20 times mode getting ready
I just talked to people at the hotel and got these directions to the banquet hall location:
Go into Main entrance to the hotel complex and turn left as the road splits headed towards the Magnolia section of the hotel. (There should be signs on the roadway also re: Magnolia section). I didn’t ask about parking because I am going to be dropped off.
Go straight in that entrance and to get to the Tennessee Ballroom where the Banquet will be - you go straight in, go around this huge staircase, go down past the Fuse restaurant and Rusty’s restaurant and our ballroom will be on the left.
I’ll have a Free Republic sign if anybody is looking.
LOL re: the wifey changing lots of times,,,,,,!!!! I know she will look great even if she were dressed in a paper bag!
If you are stll online - wardrobe malfunction - will now have on gray, white, beige horizontally striped blouse with 3/4 length sleeves and black slacks.
See you all there I hope!
