Kirk is “conservative” for IL just like Scott Brown is for Mass. Unfortunate but incremental.

IF ONLY he looked like Scott Brown !

>> What level of RINO-ness do we expect from him? McCain/Lindseed or Maine Twins <<

Maine twins. Kirk agrees with the Dems on every major issue: wall street bailouts, big government spending, abortion on demand, confiscation of all guns, the gay agenda, cap n' trade, no drilling, handouts for illegals, surrender in Iraq, SCHIP, Charlie Rangel's bonus tax, etc., etc. He's been a loyal Dem ally for years. His apologists here will note that during the GOP primary he suddenly decided he was "against" Obamacare and cap n' trade, activist judges, ACORN, etc. Arlen Specter pulled the same old song and dance in 2004. I can't believe some conservatives still believe these career left-wing liars.

“This is the time if ever to run a third party candidate against both the Democrat and the Republican.”

If a third-party candidate gains some traction, count me in.

Chances of that? Slim to none (and Slim’s headed to the Wisconsin border). Just look at how the conservatives fared in the major races in these primaries.

I’m willing to be convinced by a third-party candidate who’s going somewhere. But I’m not voting for somebody who’s net effect is to make it easier for a slime like Giannoulis to win.

Family got money by being the bank for bookies....all the way back to when Blankovitch got his start as a sports bookie.....His last election the majority of his funds came from “family”....

Now the bank is in TROUBLE....Must come up with several million dollars that they don’t have....And they have relationship with both Rezko and Patty Mell Blankovitch.

I don’t like the elections coming this early. Not much was heard from several of the candidates till the end. I don’t like the early voting, either. Last year a friend voted early and then regretted it after more information came out about the candidates closer to the actual voting day.

I had thought that Quinn and Giannoulias had both blown it but it looks like they may pull it out.

Here's another travesty. Looking at these numbers, there's no way the GOP is going to win either the Governorship or the Senate seat in the Fall no matter who wins.

With about 2/3rds of the vote now counted......

SENATE
GOP Candidates:
    Kirk - 227,592
    Hughes - 71,668
    Other Candidates - 89,761
TOTAL GOP VOTES - 389,021

DEM Candidates:
    Giannoulias - 238,233
    Hoffman - 215,032
    Other Candidates - 169,713
TOTAL DEM VOTES - 622,978

GOVERNOR
GOP Candidates:
    McKenna - 92,791
    Dillard - 86,919
    Brady - 84,522
    Ryan - 73,907
    Andrzejewski - 66,362
    Other Candidates - 40,202
TOTAL GOP VOTES - 444,703

DEM Candidates:
    Quinn - 334,968
    Hynes - 320,371
TOTAL DEM VOTES - 655,339

Ugly.

Hank

There were never any feasible conservative choices. I’d rather that Hughes had done better. Still, the fact that at least 40% of Illinois Republicans voted for someone other than Kirk is a warning shot to him.

Kirk just thanked Pat Brady, chair of IL-R party. Wasn’t he the one who called the tea parties “fringe”?

Then perhaps you should leave the forum and get started recruiting a real conservative. This would be the time to run a third party, TEA Party conservative. Cut spending, cut taxes and keep his/her lip buttoned on social issues.

>> Kirk is “conservative” for IL just like Scott Brown is for Mass. Unfortunate but incremental. <<

I disagree. Brown may be moderate but he's much further to the right than Kirk will ever be. For example, Brown has a lifetime "A" rating from the NRA, Kirk has an F. Many of the leftist groups that were supporting Coakley in that race were the same groups that endorsed Kirk for Congress. And Mass. is MUCH more Democrat than Illinois will ever be, proving Scott Brown didn't "have to" support Kirk's extreme liberal agenda to "win" in a heavily RAT state.
