Here's another travesty. Looking at these numbers, there's no way the GOP is going to win either the Governorship or the Senate seat in the Fall no matter who wins.

With about 2/3rds of the vote now counted......

SENATE
GOP Candidates:
    Kirk - 227,592
    Hughes - 71,668
    Other Candidates - 89,761
TOTAL GOP VOTES - 389,021

DEM Candidates:
    Giannoulias - 238,233
    Hoffman - 215,032
    Other Candidates - 169,713
TOTAL DEM VOTES - 622,978

GOVERNOR
GOP Candidates:
    McKenna - 92,791
    Dillard - 86,919
    Brady - 84,522
    Ryan - 73,907
    Andrzejewski - 66,362
    Other Candidates - 40,202
TOTAL GOP VOTES - 444,703

DEM Candidates:
    Quinn - 334,968
    Hynes - 320,371
TOTAL DEM VOTES - 655,339

Ugly.

This is a bad primary in the middle of Winter. I wouldn’t use it as an indicator. I am heartened that it looks like Brady may win the primary for Gov. I think Republicans will do very well in the General election. I think this primary is crap and I think third parties should get on the ball and start working hard to take advantage of the current environment. There is an opening in the Senate race for a third party. We need someone who can capitalize on the fact it looks like a they will be running against a corrupt Democrat and a liberal Cap and Trade Republican. If you can’t win against those to things then conservatives might as well give up in Illinois.
