Suggested focus thread for Illinois Primary Election talk and results. The polls close at 7:00 p.m. CST.
LET'S GO CONSERVATIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hughes would be my preference too, but that's not going to happen and I will say it again: It benefits conservatism to have a 55 lifetime ACU rated Mark Kirk - as a member of a majority GOP Conference - in the Senate rather than a RAT like Dick Durbin who has a ACU lifetime 6 who would be there in his place.
There can be no rational discussion with "conservatives" who cannot acknowledge that truth. Politics and electoral success matter. Just my opinion. Sorry to post and run, but I have obligations tonight. Regards.
I agree.... Still a Rat is going to win the general election I don’t know if she is any good..
I am from right next to Michelle BHachmann’s district in MN so I have no idea about any of the Ill. people.
“So we end up with the most liberal Republican in the Senate. How is electing another Lincoln chafee a good thing?”
Never said it was a good thing. Never said I was pleased with the result, either - just trying to let the world know what I thought was the reason Kirk did as well as he did.
Doubt if any conservatives in Illinois voted for him, but unfortunately, the state isn’t mostly conservatives, and even among the non-Democrats, I doubt most Illinoisans know as much about Kirk as the folks at FR.
This is Illinois - you know, Burris, Obama, Durbin, Paul Simon...the state that turns horse manure into US Senators.
The political marriage of corrupt politicians, regardless of party.
Nefarious doesn’t START to describe it.
We need to keep the ‘rat out, though - like they say, 1/2 way better than no way.
Right now Dillard.. He has the backing of Edgar..
not to mention he enjoys the title “greenest republican in Congre$$”

Yeah, I guess he is an improvement. ;-)
I read that Hughes just conceded. It’s a dissapointment, but no surprise at all.
Brady would be the most Conservative of those four, but his home territory just nuked the results, so he’s likely topped-off. Hell, I can’t STAND his supporters, but even I wish he or Adam or someone would take-off and just escalate.
The only realistic hope left is that somehow, when the city vote comes in late, there’s 10000 Polish votes that nuke the results at midnight......
Now it’s just “who do you want? Dillard, McKenna, Ryan?”
Sad.
U.S. Senate
Democrat
“for those of us not in Illinois, what is The Combine.”
The Dems and Repubs who all work together for mutual benefit.
Watching Greta ... DAMN .. they’re
calling the race for Kirk!!!!
Governor
Republican
Dillard backed 0bama - that should be his kiss of death.
Hughes problem is not being able to go head to head with Kirk. Also he had all these also rans splitting the conservative vote. If he’d have had polls showing more respectable polling of 30-40% he’d have did much better. The short primary sucked. I do think he should consider getting himself on the ballot as a third party tea party candidate. 250,000 sigs aren’t too much to get before June and he could use that time to rally Tea Party conservatives to his side. I’d personally love the battle. I wish I’d ran onto him earlier. I have no doubt that had he had a couple more months he’d have did much better. This stupid feb primary is what hurt him and other less well known candidates.
thanks
