Taliban fighters will be handed jobs and free homes under plans to crush the insurgency in Afghanistan. Even Mullah Omar, their fugitive leader, could be rewarded with property if he renounces violence and severs links with Al Qaeda. But senior Government officials said it was unlikely the insurgents would be paid cash to give up their weapons, for fear it would be used to buy arms to target British troops.

Just business as usual with this President. I was taken aback last week when a co-worker who immigrated here from the Philippians made the remark the this was just like the Philippian government. He never thought he would see this in the USA.

Imagine, negotiating for Afghanistan government power with a group who gave safe haven to al Qaeda, which allowed al Qaeda to train and plan 9/11, and a group that currentyl supports varying international terrorist groups besides al Qaeda.
We had better prepare for another 9/11.
and be assured, if bin Laden still lives, he is laughing his arse off at what is transpiring with the Taliban and the US in Afghanistan.

It’s my understanding this is a British plan and the British taxpayers are on the hook for this one.

This is beyond stupid. But maybe we can turn it to our advantage. Can we declare Free Republic a Taliban website and all Freepers to be ‘Taliban’ and rake in the $$$ and housing? Just what are the qualifications to be considered and enemy combatant??
Wow. This is almost enough to make me join the Taliban. Free house and job? No problem! Where do I sign up?
Zero can’t even do what is necessary to stimulate job growth here let alone do it in another country. The Afghans should be insulted that the US thinks they are stupid enough to believe what is promised.
