A former chief United Nations weapons inspector is accused of contacting what he thought was a 15-year-old girl in an Internet chat room, engaging in a sexual conversation and showing himself masturbating on a Web camera. Scott Ritter of Delmar, N.Y., who served as chief U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991-98 and who was an outspoken critic of the second Bush administration in the run-up to the war in Iraq, is accused of contacting what turned out to be a Barrett Township police officer posing undercover as a teen girl.

By my memory, he made a mistake in 2004 with making a photofake (as opposed to photojoke) image of JFKerry appearing at a 1960s anti-war rally with Jane Fonda. JFKerry was indeed at that rally, but no photo existed of him there, or with Fonda.
Somehow Registered got sued over it, he ended up with large legal bills. I vaguely remember that he wanted to start up fundraising threads here at FR for his defense, and JR wouldn't allow it, so he angrily left. However, my memory could be faulty.
I think he's now totally out of the political Photoshop game. Registered Media still exists as a web domain, but nothing has come of it in years and years.
This is not the first time Ritter has been in such trouble.
According to reports, Ritter was charged in a June 2001 Internet sex sting in New York, but that case was dismissed.
He had been charged with attempted child endangerment after arranging in an online chatroom to meet what he thought was a 16-year-old girl at a Burger King restaurant. The girl turned out to be an undercover policewoman.

As soon as I saw the headline I knew it had to be Ritter. I’d be amused, but one wonders how many young women did he victimize between the latest Burger King incident and this latest event.
I thought the Burger King arrest happened much later than 2001. More like, 2003... unless he has an even earlier criminal history in this regard!

Isn’t this the second time around this block for Mr. Ritter. I think I recall him getting busted at a Burger King trying to hook up with a little girl.

I remember the MSM covering his earlier arrest at the Burger King. I also remember when he was interviewed on a CNN show and the host sort of let him have it and called him “radioactive”. It was gratifying to watch Ritter squirm and lose what little composure he had.
