As Florida Republicans struggle to define their future, a towering figure from the past has returned to call the shots. Former Gov. Jeb Bush retreated from the public spotlight when he left office in 2006, becoming almost reclusive. But in the last six months, Bush, revered by the party's conservative base, has reasserted his influence and is helping remake the state's political landscape more to his liking. In the process, Bush has dimmed the star of Gov. Charlie Crist.

The GOP really, really want to lose, if they nominate Jeb.
We’ve already had 2 of them in the White House. That was two too many.
No more Bush’s! Jeb stay home, please. He will turn out to be a progressive republican just like his dad and brother before him.
And we do not need any more stinking socialist republicans running for office.
Senator McCain, along with Senator John Kerry, succeeded in normalizing relations with North Vietnam against the opposition of Senator Bob Smith of New Hampshire who said that we should not recognize North Vietnam until all MIA's are accounted for. Senator Smith was convinced that prisoners had been left behind after the war. My husband flew F4's in Vietnam and he too, is convinced that we left MIAs behind.
When the Vietnam Prime Minister came to Washington, he was given a big bear hug by Senator McCain - I as told that this is the same guy who ordered the torture and execution of our POWs.

It was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do - was to vote for RINO John McCain, and if Sarah hadn't been there........it is questionable.
I voted for McCain but it will turn out that Obama will be the best thing that ever happened for the conservative movement in America if not the world. American’s now claim to be MADE UP OF 60% CONSEVATIVES.
I’m a Texan, and thought W was a conservative while governor, also. Big disappointment as Pres. Remember, Jeb opposed drilling off the coast of Florida along with the other list, which was a finger-in-the-wind issue. No, I would never trust another Bush. I did hold my nose and vote for McLame, altho I expect having Zero as Pres for 2 years is our best bet at getting Congress back.
No and yes, assuming the GOP wins the 2012 general election, and Jeb defeats the d-RAT incumbent, Bill Nelson, Jeb could use the Senatorial seat as a springboard to the Presidency in the 2020 race. The presumed GOP incumbent would be running for re-election in 2016, and if this POTUS disappoints by straying from Conservative principles and precepts, Jeb could challenge in the 2016 primaries.

Yes, Jeb was a very good governor. Very popular in FL. The State did very well during his time in office, including his spectacular leadership during several years of disastrous hurricanes. He is not perfect. No one is, especially politicians, but he did a good job. He also maintained strong popularity among GOP, independents and even some Dems.
Would I support him for President. Hell no. Two is enough, and neither previous Bush left the party in good condition. For Jeb, running against Nelson and taking that seat back would be a welcome decision.
Really? I thought the teaparty movement had a hand in doing that and Charlie Crist himself. No?
Although I was a big fan of Jeb as our governor, I took pause with his stance on immigration. Jeb is not to be trusted.

Agreed. Jeb did well as a Governor. His greatest contribution was being visible, reassuring and hard-working through all those hurricanes, as opposed to other governors.
McCain is also clueless and totally underserving of anyone vote.
While he MIGHT have been a darling to Florida and national conservatives, Jeb Bush is married to a native of Mexico (the daughter of a migrant worker). And before you scream “ethnocentric bigot” at me, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. Love knows no bounds.
But that fact DOES predispose him to a warm and fuzzy feeling for folks from south of the Rio Grande.
And if — in some strange and metastasizing American desire to return to a royal family dynasty — Jeb or his son should win the White House in some future presidential beauty contest designed to divert the American electorate every four years, I’d bet that HIS activities toward this alien invasion will make W’s behavior look like a warm-up exercise.
Any vestige of Western European culture — the culture MY great-grandparents and probably yours brought here after standing in line at places like Ellis Island, being interrogated, deloused and recorded — will be a distant memory – IF it’s remembered at all.
