As you start to read all this, you'll laugh at how incestuous it all gets. Let's start with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which as I've noted in the past is tied in with the Soros foundation. Together, the two worked on something called The Project on Death in America.(PDIA)

And speaking of Mr Soros, he himself(his foundations) have given directly to NPR. Compared to some of the other numbers I'm seeing, it's a small amount of $250,000. But it doesn't matter. Soros money is soros money in my book.

Additional information about RWJF can be found here.

According to RWJF themselves, they've given well over 9 million dollars to NPR. And that's just a quick google search.

How about the Ford Foundation? Who is known for funding ACORN.

According to Al Gore's news site, Ford has given NPR(and PBS) at least 50 million dollars. Sourcewatch has another 3 mil given.

Other groups(in the same links above regarding the Ford foundation) known for funding ACORN, who also fund NPR are:
The Annie E Casey Foundation
Bank of America
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
Here's a good one. The David Geffen Foundation gives grants to NPR. Sweetness and Light has a great posting regarding some of the anti-US foundations out there, and you'll find the Geffen Foundation there.
http://sweetness-light.com/archive/taxpayer-supported-america-hating-501c3-charities
Take note how the Geffen Foundation funds CREW. For those who don't know or have forgotten, CREW or Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington is a soros funded outfit. Funny how this all comes full circle from the beginning, no?
In any case, that list shines light upon several foundations of which you'll see the Wallace Global Fund. Another NPR funding entity.
NPR gets funds from the Melville Charitable Trust. The Trust's executive director - Robert(Bob) Hohler is an Obama and Moveon.org contributor.

You have the John S / James L Knight foundation as an NPR supporter. Knightfound claims to be a supporter of quality journalism, but then they also support the Huffington Post.

The John and Catherine MacArthur Foundation, has in the past given money to La Raza types.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2343481/posts
The William T Grant Foundation is another NPR supporting foundation. Amongst it's board members is Robert Granger who hails from the MDRC.
http://www.wtgrantfoundation.org/about_us/board_of_trustees
Why is that important? The MDRC was created by the Ford Foundation; of ACORN funding fame.
http://www.mdrc.org/about_what_is_mdrc.htm
The Carnegie Foundation supports NPR like the MacArthur Foundation. Also like macfound, they support La Raza.(see links above)
The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation is another. They support just about every left wing organization you can think of. Tides, ACLU, Amnesty international, ACORN, NARAL, and of course, NPR.

I'm sure many other NPR grant sources have far left wing ties as well. I started out trying to track down specific dollar amounts at the beginning as you can see, but after seeing just how deep this rabbit hole goes, I gave up on that and just pointed out the obviousness of all this. The dollar amounts clearly don't matter. This is a huge cesspool and this is all at the root of a news outlet that does not openly claim it's bias.
I hope that others will pick this up and do more digging. I'll try to add to this later, so be prepared for a ping on this in the future from myself. One of my problems is that I don't follow offshoot groups as much as I should, so I can't uncover all stones.
In the meantime, please email this to your favorite blogger so that they too will do some digging. Email your favorite talk show host and maybe one of their information digging personnel will finish up what I've started here.(as well as write up in a better fashion, I only seek to get this out into the wild here)
We need many eyes here. And we need them now.
This is what we are up against.
Clearly a post from your amazing half. Thanks!
You may want to look at federal funding of NPR.
However, federal funding of NPR did not cease even when the GOP controlled Congress from 1993-2007.
The elites use the poor for votes and manipulate the government for their own benefit. Those of us in the middle get the squeeze. Sort of a “soft” totalitarianism.
Occasionally I hear “Nipper”,as I now refer to it, on somebody’s radio. It’s now almost back to back commercials for government bureaucracies and talk shows that increasingly seem like commercials. It’s become a snake eating its own tale— charging another bureaucracy for doing its PR.
As for these foundations: I’ll bet there’s a pretty penny waiting for the lawyer who’s willing to research the terms these foundations originally agreed to when they were founded.
Fight fire with fire.
No reason foundations should be exempt from taxes.... high taxes.
Pubcasting got an 8.1 percent more over last year in the last federal budget passed.

That is a most excellent observation/suggestion. I hope that becomes a reality
Who in the world purchases wine grapes from MISTER NANCY PELOSI.... and the next question is what is the name of the wine label.... JUST A QUESTION....
True and the GOP also gave federal funding to ACORN. All these left-wing groups need to be de-funded. I just get tired of seeing taxes going to leftist organizations whom I don’t support. They have discussions on abortions and guess which way they slant. They have discussions on Christianity and guess which way they slant. They have discussions on candidates for elected office and guess which way they slant.... Are there any tax-payer funded right wing groups?
Public broadcasting got about 40% of it’s budget from public funds.
http://cpb.org/stations/reports/revenue/2008PublicBroadcastingRevenue.pdf
I’ve thought the same thing. When Tides Foundation, Drummond Pike, created the Tides Center I also wondered how legal it was. One would think it strains the boundaries of our tax laws at the very least.
You're beautiful.
Everything is beautiful, in its own way...
Except NPR and Soros (spit).
This has little to do with your great work here, but it’s an example of what these Foundations are doing to ALL of our Churches, old but nonthless valid:
http://www.ewtn.org/library/PROLIFE/CFCPART2.TXT
On May 18, 1992, the birth of the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) was announced to the press, along with prominent mention of its sources of startup funding. United Press International reported that more than $2 million would come from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, more than $5 million from the Pew Charitable Trusts and the Rockefeller Foundation, and a single five-year, $8 million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This latter windfall represented the single largest grant in that foundations history (a $13-million-plus grant to CASA in 1998 would later raise the bar even higher).
... Healthy People 2010 report put out by HHS in 2000. This federal plan sets ten-year targets for a variety of public health goals. Healthy People 2010 explicitly calls for a 9 percent across-the-board cut in alcohol consumption. Its predecessor, Healthy People 2000, demanded a cut in consumption by over 24 percent. Not just in underage drinking: the feds want less alcohol consumed, period.
This lines up well with CASAs examination, in Teen Tipplers, of various strategies ostensibly targeted at reducing underage drinking. The policy options that CASA chose to explore include (in their own words):
Increase Alcohol Taxes
Restrict the social and commercial availability of alcohol;
Ban alcohol advertising on television;
Limit [the] numbers, locations, and hours of alcohol establishments;
Require prominent warning labels in all alcohol advertising.
...but the strategy in use here is obvious. In addition to recommending policies that specifically target underage drinkers (such as school-based prevention programs and expanded addiction treatment options), CASA is arguing for measures that would effectively limit the options of ADULTS, regardless of how responsibly they drink.[...]http://activistcash.com/organization_overview.cfm/o/318-national-center-on-addiction—substance-abuse
These Foundations funded somthing that was already being addressed w/ $400m. Why did they want to start another one? Probably to supply fraudelent data that would take away our freedoms and dampen Capitalism. Cloward-Piven Strategy. Obama was director of the Joyce Foundation in Chicago, and tried the same fraudulent data thing, only in his case it was to ban guns. It’s all for the common good!

I can visualize him already at his blackboard with all the connecting dots and arrows.

Thanks for your good work. Hope it continues (by you and/or others).
The ONE factoid I know about EVERY liberal with whom I debate or try to inform is that EACH and EVERY ONE listens to NPR! National Propaganda Radio.
My old tagline was, “Defund NPR”.
Stopping federal funding of this Demonrat propaganda/brainwashing outlet MUST be a top priority to all who are running for Congress from the conservative side of things!
