So you think politicians should act as judges?
Unlike much of the Articles, this bad idea did not make it into the Constitution.
But at least they had no enforcement power. State courts could and did ignore the judgement of the commissioners.
Why bother without the power to enforce?
After dozens of posts praising the deficient Articles and dumping on the Constitution, you have not explained how the Articles were to be corrected. At least you no longer tell us how great the Swiss confederacy was and is to this day.

I should also add that, in addition to a regular all-season car kit (tools, flares, first aid, etc) I keep a 5’ 17 pound breaker bar, a set of 24” bolt cutters, a three pound hammer, a snow shovel and a chainsaw. Useful items that will get you past difficult inanimate obstacles if you’re able to stay with your vehicle.
Besides, that chainsaw works great on zombies...

We throughly changed in the two generations after the revolution. Originally we were agrarian traders and mercantile traders. Foreign credit, monitary values and tarrifs effected almost all. As always immediate changes in government were sought to solve immediate problems. Judiciary field of influence was very limited in such a world.
In a couple of generations we were a nation of producers, builders and growers for our own consumption except for the tobacco and cotton interests. We became more concerned with internal matters to a certain degree and all political thought focused on sectional interests. Within three generations those sectional interests were so heated that again immediate changes in government were sought for immediate interests.
Destruction on an unknown scale followed. In the two days of the battle of Shilo alone more Americans died than in our entire previus existance.
Two more generations passes and we again had turned inward to economic self_centeredness and passed the 17th amendment crippling the Senate and then adopted a National income tax.
In each age law makers claim statecraft but foist immediate solutions to current concerns.
Would we have survived if the anti-federalists had won? I doubt it. I think the French malignancy would have found fertile soil in a Henry Nation just as it did in the intemperate portion of the mind of Jefferson.

Now THAT’S a fine post. Leave it to you, old FRiend, to bring up societal issues as the root cause of political upheaval. The real question is where do we go from here? To me, the Constitution, as a form of “limited” government, is a dead letter. We’re just playing out the string. Then again, the people are clueless. Real leadership is nowhere to be found.
I was also reminded of this 2000 incident in which Republicans refused to let the Miami-Dade votes be counted only by democrats behind a locked door, but pounded on the door shouting "LET US IN!! LET US IN!!": -- what if our Republican senators had done that to the closed door sessions of health care work?

Back in basic training we all got to shoot and otherwise familiarize ourselves with our weapons. That was the easy part. The tougher part was hardening our minds. In basic we didn’t actually kill anybody, we just learned how to do it then we kept training until what we learned was drilled into our minds and souls. Most of the guys who went through all that training never had to pull a trigger on another human but they had to be ready to do so if it was needed. It had to be done that way then and now it has to be done again. Hopefully, we won’t need all that mental training now either. Hopefully, we’ll write thousands of posts and beat our chests and make dire threats. . . all for nothing.
You’re right when you claim that we’re mostly anti-terrorist and anti-murder. But what do we do when our government is murdering and terrorizing its own citizens? Every Jew killed by the Nazis was killed lawfully by lawfull representatives of a lawfully elected government. Almost daily we’re treated to the spectacle of American citizens being mistakenly deprived of their property, their fortunes and their lives by lawfull representatives of our lawfully elected government. How much more do we have to witness before we say “Enough!”
I’m old . . . too old to be of much use in whatever is to happen. Hell, if it holds off another year I might not even be around for it. I have kids though, and grandkids too and they’ll be involved. I hope they survive. Moreover, I hope they survive in freedom.

You are never too old to pull a trigger if that is where your head is at, remember, you aren't talking about war, you are talking about domestic terrorism, so you can work part time and from home.
Terrorism. I believe that’s what “the other side” calls it. “Our side” refers to it as fourth generation warfare. Individuals aren’t the only ones who can engage in it, governments can too. Suppose our government had a bill it wanted passed, call it “cap and trade” for want of a better name. Suppose further that congress was a bit worried about repercussions if they pass it. Then the government declared carbon dioxide a “harmful gas” and threatened to control it via the EPA if congress doesn’t pass the bill. In so doing the government admits the classification was made to “terrify” congress into action.
Well, stop supposing and start looking at the record because that’s what actually happened. By their own admission the Obama administration is a “terrorist organization” and what do Freepers think of terrorists? Or is that just the terrorists that the government classifies as such?
Tell me, if some enterprising sharpshooter had slipped up on Hitler back in 1937 and put a bullet through his head, what would the world be like now? Would that shooter be a hero or an murderer and by whose definition? If the government doesn’t care about the law why should individuals worry about it?
I think you should ask the mod to pull your post and just let things drop.
