I dont travel in liberal circles much, so last night was a real eye-opener as to how much this country is in deep doo-doo.
I went to my brothers house (Marin County, CA) for our familys annual Dungeness crab feast. Its no secret in my family that my political position is hard starboard at flank speed, so out of deference to the occasion I made a personal vow not to steer the conversation to current events.
Alas, my best intentions were scuttled by my brothers neighbor lady let slip a snarky comment about Sarah Palin not believing in global warming.
The BBC? Just as bad as the NYT or maybe worse.
crabs were decent size, about 1.5 LBS @ $2.99/LB.
In the recent past, I worked with a number of Ph.D’s. They are all libs and unbelievably uninformed, so your experience doesn’t surprise me!
Interesting. I just finished a few emails with my younger brother’s in laws. Let’s just say it included the phrase “military industrial complex.”
The ignorance is often stunning. I guess CNN just finally mentioned the climategate emails last week, and did so in an effort to dismiss them. Evidently they could nop longer pretend to be a news organization and ingore the biggest story on the planet.
People like her will never survive their first food riot.
Very true. My liberal friends will actually give the look of death to acquaintances who raise political issues when I’m around. They hate having to hear rational conservative logic.
These people think with 2 of their organs, and neither is located above the neck.
The liberals I know think they get “Fair and Balanced” from NPR.
At least a dog can learn a new trick. No thinking is required to be a Democrat.
I could have written this article one year ago, as at that time I informed a clueless relative that Sarah did not say “she could see Russia from her kitchen window”.
And, also, this relative was quite proud that she didn’t own a computer but was very informed on current events, since she knew that “Joe the Plumber wasn’t really a plumber”.
Sounds like the “social worker” in this article and my relative who lives for the daily soap operas on TV are two of a kind.
Too bad there aren’t only these two uninformed people around. There are millions more, and, unfortunately, they vote.
On a related note, while reading the Bible I was reminded of how human nature never changes. In Acts, Paul and Barnabas healed a lame man and the people of the town were bound and determined to worship them. Paul protested mightily and tried to stop them to no avail. Then two verses later, some people came from Jerusalem and turned the crowd against Paul. Paul was then stoned and left for dead.
People are sheeple. They can't be bothered with facts, they just want factoids and cultural trends.
“The BBC? Just as bad as the NYT or maybe worse.”
Like I said, I didn’t want her head to explode. Suppose I had suggested Canada Free Press; they’d have to take her away in a straight jacket when her world imploded.
She works for the government, so therefore she is socialist, just like Obama.
Fix, no. But broken down into it's componant parts it makes a passable industrial lubricant.
You get bonus points for your patience and persistence.
You didn’t try to win a debate, you tried to educate a liberal.
Over Christmas, we will all have to engage the known liberals in our families, because the future of America depends on it.
We have no time or money to allow their foolish petulanxe tot dominant our politics any longer. We have seen how a complete political party has been radicalized to the point of overt Marxism, and only an outpouring of rage by the American public over the summer started a trend in the other direction. And that battle is not yet won.
As for Sarah Palin, there is no question that she HAS to be President No. 45. We will need an honest, hard-working person that is not owned by anyone to get out of the mess we will be in by 2012. When she says she’ll be “fighting for you”, she means it, because she has always done that in her political career.
There is also no question that she can connect with people at all levels, and she can converse on almost any subject. She is showing, without the shackles placed on her by the McCain campaign, the media, and the Alsakan Democrats, what a powerhouse she really is.
When you think about it, her Facebook postings have singlehandedly exposed ObamaCare,Al Gore,Cap and Trade, Climate Change, etc. And she is just a housewife and hockey mom with no political office right now.
She could have gone home and stayed there after all that has been said and done to her and her family. But she showed that her love of country is more important than feeling sorry for yourself and has chosen to engage the debate. She soon will own that, too.
You did well with your liberal social worker. I love the way she went to a bookstore, sipped coffee and read magazines for free in a place that has employees to pay and a profit to make. Typical government worker drone.
Apparently, more knowledgeable than the liberal.
I have similar experiences. When I tell them what's in the health care bill they say they don't believe it, it is all FNC talk radio lies. They still depend on government controlled media. They will be even more unhappy as days go on. Meanwhile 'it's all republicans fault Obama is stuck'.
Ironically I hear the same defenses of Obama that Bush-bots use for Bush. “Obama is too nice a guy. He needs to be tougher with those mean republicans”. Sound familiar? “GW Bush is too nice a guy...”
That explains so much right there.
I'm thinking that this is not a MUST. The candidate needs to be "Palin approved" however.
