RED STATE ^ | Erick Erickson

They are going to start making us wear “C”(conservative and/or Christian) or “R” armbands before long.

Just wait until we take everything back in 2012. We will not be charitable like we used to be.

There is no doubt that I have become less tolerant and patient with liberals.... I am fed up with their anti-freedom hatred..

The Third Reich would have been proud of the Obama Administration.

Sounds like something that perhaps Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin OR Rush Limbaugh can draw into the spotlight for many millions to see and send them into retreat and to reverse this ridiculous new assault on We The People.

“make this change retroactive 5 years. Seems to be open to lawsuits for being retroactive.”

I thought the same thing.....albeit not “legislation” it smacks of this:

Yeah, and the media will suddenly care about this kind of thing and start broadcasting to the world how evil the Republicans are and stupid Americans will believe it and vote the Democrats back in. Do you think I'm cynical?

Via Instapundit comes word that the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) intends to purge the federal government of Republican civil servants all in the name of purify the federal bureaucracy.

There's something very Soviet sounding about that sentence.

None dare call it ‘facism’. They like the term ‘corporatism’.
I grew up listening to tales of Germany during Hitler’s reign. I never thought it would happen here. Hitler had better powers of persuasion, she says.

In this case, these people are now civil service employees who do not serve at the pleasure of the President and cannot be fired just because they are Republicans. in fact, the law is very clear on that point.

Ok. I understand that point, but I'm having trouble with the idea of how these folks got their jobs in the first place.

It is a typical Washington process that many political appointees are able to take jobs within the civil service once their political appointment expires — usually at the conclusion of one administration. What often happens as well is Congressional staffers, before an election or shortly thereafter, will move over to the Executive Branch placed into the civil service, in effect, by appointment.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks to me like there is some sort of "catch-all" system or favorable treatment for career bureaucrats. Am I wrong? Is this entire "tradition" a sort of bloating?

I'm not trying to imply that what O is doing isn't wrong or bad. But something about this entire process doesn't seem right to me at first glance.
