I’ve never seen it before, but maybe you’re right. In my experience, coins were more like trading cards and ‘attaboys’. Not something you’d present to the dead.
Someone mentioned that Obama only ordered the flags to be at half staff until Veteran’s Day. When I read that, I determined to hold my own moment of silence each day for one month. I set my alarm to remind me at 11:23 each day, that 11:24 was one minute away. I also set one alarm at 11:25.
Each day I am reminded to watch for the clock to turn 11:24, and for that minute I think of the good men and women we lost, their family and friends. Then at 11:25 I am signaled that the minute is over.
It’s something small, but I do think of our members of the military at Fort Hood every day.
Anyone care to join me.
BTW, I do this at 11:24 because I’m in California and that’s the time it was for me when the event started. In Texas it would have been 1:24. I took this time from the moment of silence the military observed on the day after the event.
That would be too tacky putting those cheesy Obama collectible coins on there. Although nothing Barry does surprises me...

Gov. Perry ordered our flags in Texas lowered the day it happened. Obama ordered the nations lowered the next day..so yes..they are lowered.
I apologize if this question has already been asked, but can someone tell me why the flags on the servicemen’s sleeves are backwards?...the blue/star portion of the flag is on the right rather than the left...
We’ll see more of these memorial services - The Jihad has come back to America with a vengence because the Islamofascists have taken the measure of Obama and know he’s a little girly-man; a beta male PC wimp who will not strike back at them.

Thanks, penny. I saw them lowered in my area and didn’t know if it was because the federal govt or state govt requested it or if they were doing it on their own.

I do believe there was a shooting at a base during Bush’s watch....That had nothing to do with President Bush. He attended the memorial and left his coin. As I said, it is a time endured honour and a great tribute. This is not about anyone but the lives lost and their loved ones. The hard part is before them.
So it appears they’re advancing, not retreating.

I was thinking in terms of the terrorist who killed them and what needs to be done in our country.
It’s the direction the flag would be flying if they were moving forward.
Those poor people can bearly stand up...
much of their torment probably comes from the lack of comfort from the so called CinC and authorities...but excuses for the Islamic terrorist who slaughtered their loved ones...
