Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

Supposedly there is about to be a news conference from Fort Hood -- but, CAUTION, you know how they start scrolling this at the bottom of the screen, and all too often nothing happens for hours.

But just a heads up, that at some time, maybe even soon, there's a press conference comin' on up.

“Surviving Fort Hood shooting suspect arrested at golf course, officer says”
November 5, 2009 6:34 p.m. EST
STORY HIGHLIGHTS

(CNN) —

SNIPPET: “The senior officer said he ducked into a nearby house for cover as 30 to 40 cars carrying MPs approached.

He said he saw a soldier in battle-dress uniform, his hands in the air. The MPs ordered him to lie on the ground and open his uniform, presumably to ensure he was not carrying explosives, the senior officer said.

He said an MP told him that authorities considered the man to be a suspect in the shootings after having overheard the man say he was with the shooter.”

OPINION:

As far as I know from researching this incident; all subjects have been released excepted for the shooter who is hospitalized.

Caveat: I could be wrong. Breaking news AND continuing investigations may bring new updates.

Fort Hood’s 9/11 Islamist terror strikes US again
nypost ^ | November 6, 2009 | Ralph Peters
Posted on November 6, 2009 5:15:53 PM PST by opentalk

On Thursday afternoon, a radicalized Muslim US Army officer shouting “Allahu Akbar!” committed the worst act of terror on American soil since 9/11. And no one wants to call it an act of terror or associate it with Islam.

What cowards we are. Political correctness killed those patriotic Americans at Ft. Hood as surely as the Islamist gunman did. And the media treat it like a case of non-denominational shoplifting.

This was a terrorist act. When an extremist plans and executes a murderous plot against our unarmed soldiers to protest our efforts to counter Islamist fanatics, it’s an act of terror. Period.

When the terrorist posts anti-American hate-speech on the Web; apparently praises suicide bombers and uses his own name; loudly criticizes US policies; argues (as a psychiatrist, no less) with his military patients over the worth of their sacrifices; refuses, in the name of Islam, to be photographed with female colleagues; lists his nationality as “Palestinian” in a Muslim spouse-matching program, and parades around central Texas in a fundamentalist playsuit — well, it only seems fair to call this terrorist an “Islamist terrorist.”

But the president won’t. Despite his promise to get to all the facts. Because there’s no such thing as “Islamist terrorism” in ObamaWorld.

And the Army won’t. Because its senior leaders are so sick with political correctness that pandering to America-haters is safer than calling terrorism “terrorism.”

And the media won’t. Because they have more interest in the shooter than in our troops — despite their crocodile tears.

Maj. Nadal Malik Hasan planned this terrorist attack and executed it in cold blood. The resulting massacre was the first tragedy. The second was that he wasn’t killed on the spot.

“Fellow Worshipers Describe Fort Hood Shooting Suspect as Devout Muslim, Troubled by Wars”
Friday, November 06, 2009

SNIPPET: “KILLEEN, Texas — The Army psychiatrist suspected in Thursday’s shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, attended morning prayers at a local mosque hours before the rampage that killed 13, the mosque’s imam told FoxNews.com.

Imam Syed Ahmed Ali said Major Nidal Malik Hasan usually worn his uniform or civilian clothes to prayers, but on Thursday, he attended in his full robe.”

Just heard on CNN

A local reporter explains to Larry King that Hasan was moved to the hospital in San Antonio, probably "because the San Antonio FBI has jurisdiction is this case."

IF the reporter was correct, and the San Antonio office of the FBI does have jurisdiction, then would that not mean that this is a TERRORISM investigation?

Early on, I'm pretty sure I heard it explained that if it wasn't a case terrorism, then the FBI would have no further work, it would be strictly all military.

Now... does this mean that if the intubated paralyzed Dr. Hasan actually wakes up from his coma, that he will be tried in a civilian court of law in San Antonio, Texas?

I am not an attorney, but this looks like a straight forward Terrorism case.

Now think about this. Both Civilians and military were killed. The civilians were under contract with the military from what I have heard.

As far as the civilian deaths are concerned, that could very well qualify for the case to be tried in a Civilian Court. In Texas, I can predict the outcome of that type of trial.

Normally Federal trials with death penalty convictions take longer than it does in Texas. But that is not always the case, case in point McVeigh. That was a relatively short time between conviction and execution.

Answer: I simply do not know.

Fort Worth soldier was hero in Fort Hood rampage
Fort Worth Star-Telegram ^ | 11/6/2009 | Dave Montgomery
Posted on November 6, 2009 10:10:36 PM PST by Saije

Pfc. Marquest Smith, a former Fort Worth resident who joined the Army just over a year ago, was in a small cubicle inside the Soldier Readiness Center when he heard popping sounds. A bullet tore through the cubicle wall and lodged in the heel of his boot.

Within 15 minutes, the 21-year-old soldier was rushing through the chaos in the huge processing center to pull four wounded victims to safety and help take them to the hospital. The gunman fired toward him from across the room as Smith was fleeing the building.

Other tales of heroism spread throughout this grief-stricken base Friday as it struggled with the aftermath of the worst attack ever at a U.S. military installation. Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey, who arrived at Fort Hood with new Army Secretary John McHugh, called it “a kick in the gut.”***

Eight of the wounded were treated and released, and of the 30 originally hospitalized, 23 — including the alleged gunman — remained in hospitals late Friday. Thirteen flag-draped coffins were placed aboard a C-17 and flown to a military installation in Dover, Del., for final funeral preparations.

McHugh, who succeeded Pete Geren of Fort Worth as army secretary Sept. 21, told reporters that the FBI and Defense Department are conducting a joint investigation into Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who was felled in an exchange of gunfire with a civilian policewoman.***

Hasan, who sustained at least four gunshot wounds, was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio at mid-afternoon, the Army said Friday night.***

Col. John Rossi, at mid-evening Friday, said Hasan apparently fired more than 100 rounds of ammunition from his two handguns, a 5.7 mm semiautomatic and an older model Smith & Wesson .357-caliber revolver.

I know you guys will probably think this is superficial, but I hope you watched ABC’s “V” earlier this week.

A significant portion of the terrorist and Obama operation was mirrored on that show. If you look at the similarities between the long term plan of the “V” and how they are executing it, it will be shockingly similar to the subversive cause of third world (strife) wars, and the appologistic and facilitating nature of the world’s left.

They have it right, right down to the effort to utilize the youth do advance their cause. They cover sleeper cells, manipulation of the media, and other propagandist and subversive efforts.

The whole show will be online tomorrow the 7th here ( http://abc.go.com/ ), so please take time to watch the episode. I think you’ll find it intriguing.

‘Islam does not justify this act of terrorism’
The Times ^ | 11/7/2009 | Richard Kerbaj, Ruth Gledhill and Andrew Norfolk
Posted on November 6, 2009 10:31:59 PM PST by bruinbirdman

Worshippers at one of Britain’s biggest mosques reacted to the Fort Hood shooting yesterday by saying Muslims who serve in the Armed Forces are complicit in killing their “brothers and sisters” in Afghanistan.

However, a Muslim ex-soldier who twice served in Afghanistan said that the shooting could not be justified by any mainstream interpretation of Islam. Speaking to The Times after Friday prayers at East London mosque, young Muslim men said the lives of those who follow Islam were of more value than those of non-believers. They gave only their first names, claiming that the authorities might place them under investigation.

Mustapha, 26, from South London, said that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were wars against Muslims and he would not consider joining the Army nor encourage fellow Muslims to. “I would not fight against my friends and brothers,” the house-builder said. “The Koran says even if you make allies with non-Muslims and join them to kill Muslims, then you die as a non-believer.”

Asked his views on the killings at Fort Hood, he said: “Killing military members is all right. If you are killing people who are fighting against Muslims then that’s okay.”

Abdul-Hakim, 17, who was born in Britain but spent his formative years in Tanzania, said it was a bigger crime to kill Muslims than non-Muslims such as the soldiers at Fort Hood: “For you to go and kill your own brother, that’s more of a crime than killing them.” Ashraf, a Somali-born A-level student, said that only God could judge the murders committed by Major Hasan. “I’m not saying I justify it,” said the 17-year-old. “But maybe if he was alive he could justify what he done.”

But their views contrasted with those of other Muslims. Zeeshan Hashmi, 30, who was born in Pakistan and served

Muslim radicals call Hasan ‘Officer and a Gentleman’

“Muslim radicals call Hasan ‘Officer and a Gentleman’ 13 deaths were ‘pre-emptive attack;’ ‘We do NOT denounce his actions’” Posted: November 06, 2009 10:20 pm Eastern

By Bob Unruh © 2009 WorldNetDaily

A website run by radical Muslims today honored Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the man accused of killing 13 people at Ford Hood in Texas, as an “Officer and a Gentleman,” saying his actions should not be denounced.

The massacre yesterday, which also left more than two dozen injured, was called a “pre-emptive attack” by supporters of the Revolution Muslim website.

Hasan, a Muslim psychiatrist who reportedly had been disciplined for pushing Islam on his patients at one point in his career, had given away his furniture and handed out Qurans before going to the military base and firing on soldiers at a processing center where soldiers prepared to deploy.
