Scozzafava Endorses Democrat After Dropping Out of N.Y. Congressional Race
Fox News ^ | 11/01/09

Republican Dede Scozzafava endorsed her former Democratic opponent Sunday in the race for an upstate New York congressional seat, one day after Scozzafava dropped out of the contest.

Scozzafava dropped out after Conservative Party candidate Dough Hoffman experienced a late-in-the-game surge. But on Sunday, Scozzafava backed Democrat Bill Owens -- the announcement was made in a statement send out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

"I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same," she said. "In Bill Owens, I see a sense of duty and integrity that will guide him beyond political partisanship. He will be an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York. Bill understands this district and its people, and when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first."

I’m shocked, shocked to find out there’s a self-serving self-dealing politician here!

“...when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first”

Define “us” and “our” interests. She really means her own. These politicians do NOT work for us.

The GOP can not allow Dems to choose its candidates, define the term term “moderate” and continue to butcher the English language. They’re the radicals.

Focus on primaries everywhere folks — get rid of the RINOs.

Yes, you are absolutely correct about the national implications... an Owens victory means that Pelosicare passes this week.

I hope I am wrong, but I do not see how this helps Hoffman unless he makes the entire elction a referendum on Pelosi and can convince independents to vote for a down-ballot candidate.

I have gone from optimistic to very worried about this race.

This also means that the White House believes Corzine is going to LOSE and they had to salvage something.

I want Hell to rain on this traitor. This whole thing is unbelievable.

Someone on FNC yesterday (I forget if it was Glen Beck or someone else) said that the reason that Obama picked McHugh for Secretary of the Army was to try to pick up that Congressional seat for the Democrats.

There's probably something to that--the only question is whether they thought McHugh was a good person for that position, and the possible political advantage was just an additional incentive, or if that was the main reason why McHugh was picked.

“You nailed it that the RNC Chair has to support the nominee of the Congressional District as well as the NRCC Chair. “

A written endorsement is completely different than $900,000 worth of endorsement.

The RNC “kingmakers” had nothing to do with Scozzy being put on the R line. There was a rotten deceptive process that some friends of Scozzy used to put her on it despite her having very little support from the Republican county chairmen. See www.tcotreport.com for more details. There was no primary since this was a “special election”. The RNC, Mr.Newt, and other conservative GOPers apparently did not realize the way the process was manipulated, and simply “endorsed” Scozzy because the “local party chose her” before it was known just how corrupt that process was. Fortunately, some other conservatives had not yet followed that same path, noted the corruption, and made a big splash in endorsing Hoffman. I believe that every conservative should be happy they were able to short-circuit Scozzy’s election in NY-23 whether Hoffman wins or not, and that Mr.Steele, and many other GOP leaders will be thankful also.

How stupid does the RNC feel now? How stupid does Newt feel?

Just proves we were right all along.

I agree. She would have been miss bipartisan cover for Nancy Pelosi. As it is, even if Owens wins, we probably get the seat back in the next general election. If scuzzy whatever had won, it would have been permanent bipartisan cover for dems in that Dist. for years.

So know we know two things.
#1. Scozzafava would have voted reliably with Nancy Pelosi in the congress.
# 2. Scozzafava would have switched parties to join the Democrats after taking her seat in the US congress, or when she fell behind in the polls during the 2010 primaries, just like Specter did.
# 3. Just as we thought, cozzafava is no different from Arlene Specter.
# 4. Conservatives were right all along, and the RNC and the Republicans in the House that backed her were wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if George Soros and Rahm Emmanuel had already contacted her with offers of cash in return for her support for Owens. Not that its going to matter much, Scozzafava’s votes were fast disappearing.
Owens will still lose anyway.

If that’s not enough, the smartest History Professor in the Country, “Newt”, was willing to go along with the liberal Republican in order to keep the Republican Umbrella together no matter what the Republican candidate believed in, as long as there is an (R) next the candidates’ name.

That's pretty much Lindsay (McCain's lapdog) Grahamesty's approach...who gives a care what the candidate espouses, principles be damned...as long as he/she has an R after their name, we'll take 'em. Graham is another "too moderate for my taste" loser that's got to go...exit stage left as far as I'm concerned!
