You also have the phenom that first time liberal execs - like Clinton as gov of Arkansas, hopefully Corzine in NJ and the Dem in VA this year - often get thrown out of office after the first term because they are too liberal and too egotistical and can’t adapt to the will of the people.

But in this case his first exec stop is the Oval Office. Even Clinton who had learned to adjust to get back in as Ark. governor had to make a second adjustment and move to the center again as prez in order to survive (with help from Perot).

The painting shown at #9, "Fifth Avenue in the Rain" by Childe Hassam, was taken by the Clintons when they left DC. The feds actually retrieved it from Chappaqua and returned it to the White House. It wasn't an accident, since the feds retrieved an entire moving van full of valuable objects belonging to the White House.
