'This is an issue where the federal government has no business'

Montana statehouse

Supporters of a first-of-a-kind law in Montana that declared weapons or ammunition made and kept in the state were exempt from federal rules are preparing for a court challenge to the federal government's insistence it will regulate those items.

The Montana Shooting Sports Association and the Second Amendment Foundation have formed a strategic alliance with plans to litigate over the Montana Firearms Freedom Act.

The bill was passed by the 2009 Montana Legislature and signed into law by Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer.

Will this “civilian security force” have as much WILL to keep us oppressed as we have the WILL to remain free?

dividing the USA into regional “countries” is the wet dream of all those opposed to the USA.

How about the armed states just do what lincoln did and unify the nation. You simply do what was done to the confederate leadership after the civil war. No political office, no voting in light of their betrayal of the Union.

"...stand firm and cast out those in other states who have infringed on our freedoms and siphoned our personal property to fund those infringements and other abuses of our nation."

That's pretty hard to do - nay, nearly impossible to do. Our founders taught us to never send our political capital outside our own distict. Reason, you need the best capital at hand to care for your own state, primarily your own district - using all of it to keep out the worst and elect the best.

Yet today people posting right here on FR tell us they send money to the RNC - a very unwise thing to do. Others contribute to candidates in states far removed from their own, yet they have absolutely little to no idea who is running for the lowest seats in their own district - the most foolish thing anyone could do.

Unfortunately the end-game has already played itself out, more or less... this nation is toast as a Constitutional Republic. It is now, and has long been a Democracy without Constitutional restrictions - because subsequent law has circumvented the intentions of the Constitution. Hayek warned us - we didn't listen or take heed.

Sad to say, this nations citizens have too little will to survive as a free people. Oh, many do, but they are vastly outnumbered at this point, I believe. Even those who would fight know not where best to fight (without guns) and have little to no knowledge of what to fight for if they were to somehow accidentally stumble into the political forum nearest to their own back yard.

To wit, we have a host of people right here on this 'forum' that have never participated in local political action, other than by voting in elections - yet they feel qualified to talk about political parties having never darkened the door of even one local political party meeting, and can't tell you the names of a single person that is a member of their own local district party committee (or ward.)

In spite of all this, will there be fracturing of this nation? I fear there MAY be, simply because that is what the enemies of this nation desperately ~wanted~ to accomplish. But, they wanted their brand of fracture - small socialist fragments. Do they still want that? Not if they can rape the nation into destitution - and force it into harsh socialism... which it appears they may have already accomplished in the record time of a mere 8-9 months.

Hence, the recent idea of conservative recourse - carving out a safe place on earth, a place to retreat, to stand against tyranny. That idea still has legs, but will such a thing really take place? Maybe - but, as others have said on this thread, most likely not - because the will to live free is far weaker on this earth than it has ever been before.

The idea of pushing states rights isn't dead though, and from that idea and the fight to keep those rights ~may~ come the key to one last chance. It's a slim chance at best, as I mentioned before - but, no slimmer than that of the few that gave us victory over British tyranny.

Bottom line, our destiny appears to be less what could be made of it and more the consequences of that already made, which smacks of the ultimate consequence - apocalypse.

"kick DC out of the union"

Wouldn't THAT be fantastic! (But, like mine, and that of others - another grand but impossible dream.)

It won’t happen because I doubt most soldiers would go along.

Twenty years ago, I'd have agreed with you. But I have seen the march toward globalism creep into school curriculums steadily across the nation. In my school district (the 4th largest in the nation) a number of UN inspired educational programs THRIVE as advanced placement courses. There are UN celebratory days wherein the middle schools get to dress up as they're favorite country (anything EXCEPT the USA) and the teacher's classroom doors are decorated with murals (again everything except USA). These are the schools that have done this exact same thing for thirty years. They have inculcated the brainwashing of globalism (UN glorification) at every level of school. Where do you think the majority of police officers and soldiers get their formative education? Public Schools, of course. The schools see kids more often and with more intensity than either parents or clergy. Don't think on some level that brainwashing won't take when they are faced with an order to shoot American citizens. The UCMJ offers some pretty horrible consequences on that subject. Yes it is a soldier's DUTY to disobey an illegal order, but durn few will be able to ennumerate which is which.

Sorry. IMHO, This has already been settled.
The People's Republik of Kalifornia legalized medical marijuana - and the Feds said “no” and enforced it.
I don't see how this could have a different outcome. Maybe if the sheriff and police departments of the PRK withheld cooperation from DEA or blocked them, but the precedent has been set. Federal laws and agencies trump state laws.

possibility that the military would splinter...

That would be our best hope.
Trained patriots for what they believe in and are fighting for will win almost anything.

For Instance, Under the ATF’s Convoluted Rules,
If you owned an AR-15 (a Semi-Automatic Weapon) and happened to have a Shoe string in your Home, You could be charged with Possession of an Unregistered Fully Automatic weapon.

The ATF is Not alone in this kind of Logic.

The DEA could charge you with Manufacturing Crack if you are found to have a small personal Quantity of Cocaine But also have Baking Soda in your home.

I'm standing by. I will not end my life a subject of the United States of Socialist Republic.

I've been saying the same thing -- in studying the history of Germany I always wondered how those people stood by and let it all happen and vowed that would never happen to me I just did not think I would have to face that challenge in my lifetime.

Military will not need to kill their own Family.

Obama will use the old Soviet tactic of using one Minority against another.

People from one region of the Country will be used in another region.

And Racial Makeup of Troops will also be used against the “Other”.

there are a good many Federal troops who would fire

Some mebbe, others not so much, too many relatives, friends and neighbors. But I'm with you all the way on "part of the military’s function is putting down armed revolt". Part of Obama's announced "armed revolt" will be his new 'citizens army' (of ACORN?). That and Obama's declaration of the end of the war on terror while US units are still overseas fighting the war on terror would normally be grounds for impeachment.
