My guess is that he'll simply appoint a CIA Czar. Probably William Ayers. No congressional approval required. Ayers would make Czar No. 58 or so.

If he is resigning, it's not to protest the way Obama via Holden is destroying the CIA and our national security, he is probably resigning because he knows after Obama and Holden are done with the CIA, they will expect Leon to fall on his sword for the administration like a good butt boy.

He doesn't give a hoot about the personnel at the CIA , but knows once he is thrown under the bus with Obama grandma, he's done for life.

That's because Bill had the Repubs and Newt to keep him in check so he could spend all his time chasing skirts and blaming it on the opposition...then when it was all said and done took the credit for the Internet boom and everything else. Leon gets no respect from me! He has been all over the place on this stuff. First he says he is with the CIA over Pelosi, and then just after that he complains about a secret program that Dick Cheney and the CIA supposedly had going.

Marxists such Van Jones, and Czar Holdren, and probably other Commies are being put in positions of tremendous authority while escaping media scrutiny. Perhaps Zero will be tempted to see if he can get away with another such fellow traveller in the top CIA spot, be it Ayers or someone of less well-known reputation.

With all that is likely to unfold before the next 2010 election cycle, I hope Zero pegs the meter leftward on more fellow traveler appointments to the CIA and insures Democrats won't see the halls of power for another century!

I actually fear mightily for our CIA operatives throughout the world, but I'm not under the delusion that an avowed Marxist takeover of that position now there changes the fact that Zero's people have been in charge for over seven months, or would therefore change the already-perilous situation significantly.

My guess?

He took the Job to keep tabs on at least the final saving grace of the Republic the Intelligence Agency.

It is so bad even he and the Clintons want the hell out.

The question is what will the Clintons do to get power back and at least save the Republic from total destruction.

They maybe fellow travelers, but the Clintons do not want it all to turn into Detroit, because where this clown is going it will be that bad. Remember they want something to run, not a hulk of a 54' Chevy that you see as a taxi in Cuba (you'll get the analogy).

When was the last time that a significant official resigned over a policy disagreement with the president? I recall that thirty years ado Secretary of State Warren Christopher resigned over Jimmy Carter’s Iran rescue attempt.

People are speculating that Panetta’s on the verge of quitting over the Holder torture probe, a prospect I’ve not found plausible. But who knows, really.

And sure enough. “This report is false, wrong and bogus,” said CIA spokesman George Little.
