A Christian is a follower of Christ, not or a group, a denomination, a person, a whatever.

That’s what the word means.

I can accept that a member of a denomination can be a member in good standing in that denomination, but what’s really strange is that I haven’t seen anywhere in Scripture where Jesus said that members of certain denominations are followers of His, or that to be a follower of Him, you have to be a member of a certain denomination.

I’m a Christian, as are Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Baptists, etc.

If belonging to a denomination is what makes one Christian, then it's safe to conclude that you think that any one who is NOT a member of one of those denominations is NOT a Christian.

Therefore, by your criteria, someone who is not a member of one of those denominations is not a Christian.
